I noticed on a map there is a city in southern Turkey called Batman. I learned it is the capitol of Batman Province, near the Batman River, and is home to Batman University. This should really be in a random information thread rather than random musings but we don't have one and farg it, I can do what I want.

A Michigan judge has authorized criminal charges against three people in connection with the Flint water crisis, Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton said Wednesday.

They are Flint utilities administrator Mike Glasgow, and Stephen Busch and Mike Prysby of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Leyton said. Leyton did not say what the charges are.

Glad I'm not a kid growing up today.

I got a call from the principal of my kid's middle school. He wouldn't give me any details, but said that they were opening a "full investigation" of my kid under the HIB laws, which are harassment and bullying based. I was shocked...the kid sticks up for kids against bullies. I asked what he did, and they wouldn't tell me. Just said that it was a misunderstanding, but they have to open the investigation and that I'd hear more when the investigation closed. A guidance counselor called me later and said that he commended my kid for being honest about what happened and that he was sorry they had to do the investigation. He said to ask my kid what happened (duh), because his story matched the story of the girl complaining.

What did he do? According to BOTH of the kids, they were working on a project and the girl was going on and on about Harry Styles and how hot he was. So, my smartass asked if she wanted to have his kids. She laughed and said no; so he said, well, maybe a BJ? So, she said to cut it out; he did and apologized...according to both of them. That was the extent of it....

Inappropriate? Sure. Worthy of a lecture about time and place? Yep. A call home even? Okay. Detention? I can see it.

A week long of interviewing kids and opening up a formal investigation with pages of written reports? I mean, they both agree on what happened and the kid apologized. Just the day and age we're in, I guess. Everyone is a precious flower.

I think back to the times myself or my friends were called into offices for shenanigans and cringe to think at what the repercussions would be today. Most notably I gave my jazz band director the finger when he ignored me. He called me into the office and read me the riot act and that was it. Now? Probably sent to jail.
