ipods have actually been around for a little while longer.

but that is when they took off. so it started this tremendous upswing

however, they have taken back a ton of marketshare in home PCs in the past 2 years. their computer shares are driving their earnings right now. They are the 2nd largest manufacturer of laptops.

Google stock is currently trading at over $700 a share.

Two years ago, it was around $400/share.  Three years ago, it was under $200/share.

In January of 2003, Apple was at about $10/share.

Its trading at $180/share now.

Ah...the magic of hindsight.

I was holding AMED when it went for a 20% run yesterday. I sold late in the afternoon, waited for the dip, then re-bought this morning...and saved myself about 5% off the top.

Of course, there have been other times I don't want to talk about...   :poison

So my bid to become an officer in the US Army got shot down today.  My Regimental Commander did not like my civilian record.  He says that I can try at the end of our deployment, though I am not sure I want to do that.  Once I come back I will only have 3 months left on my enlistment....I guess I will take a wait and see approach.

That's why your package got shot down.  It has nothing to do with your civilian record and everything to do with the fact that your Regimental Commander doesn't want to voluntarily give away a body that's capable of deploying.  You've been in the Army for a couple of years now so basically anything you've done in the civilian world prior to enlisting is irrelevant.  Had you applied to come in directly as an officer then your civilian record comes into play because it's the only thing that they have to evaluate you on.  But now that you have a few years of active service there is no need to look any further back than your enlistment date.  He was blowing smoke up your ass.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Does the Army have some type of system similar to Requesting Mast? Sounds like you are getting the shaft for sure. I used Mast twice before, and it helped immensely. I think an IG complaint would be much more trouble that it would be worth.

That is exactly why.  The officers of my unit tried to tell me that wasn't the case.  But it is pretty simple I am in a unit that is short on NCOs and I will become one on the 1st of December.

I'm sure they do, but have no idea what it's called.  But good point though.

DMF, whatever the proceedure is called when you basically raise the bullshtein flag, you may want to initiate that and take your grievance above the Regimental Commander.

The thing is I actually don't need his consent and I had everybody's signature that I needed.  However, since we are deploying it is up to him on who gets to leave the unit.  My CO just told me this afternoon the answer isn't no, it is just wait.  Basically they didn't want me getting pulled from the middle of the deployment.

Nas = intellectual.  Definitely.

QuoteNas Will Call "stillupfront's moms" Album "stillupfront" Instead

Posted October 23rd, 2007 by Molly Celaschi

Nas recently discussed his controversial upcoming album, which will be called stillupfront now and not "stillupfront's mom" as previously speculated.

Here are some words of wisdom from Nas:

"I'm a street disciple. I'm talking to the streets. Stay out of our business. You ain't got no business worrying about what the word 'stillupfront' is or acting like you know what my album is about without talking to me. Whether you in the NAACP or you Jesse Jackson. I respect all of them ... I just want them to know: Never fall victim to Fox. Never fall victim to the shtein they do. What they do is try to hurry up and get you on the phone and try to get you to talk about something you might not know about yet. If Cornell West was making an album called stillupfront, they would know he's got something intellectual to say. To think I'm gonna say something that's not intellectual is calling me a stillupfront, and to be called a stillupfront by Jesse Jackson and the NAACP is counterproductive, counter-revolutionary."

"I wanna make the word easy on muthafargas' ears. You see how white boys ain't mad at 'cracker' 'cause it don't have the same [sting] as 'stillupfront'? I want 'stillupfront' to have less meaning [than] 'cracker.' With all the bullshtein that's going on in the world, racism is at its peak. I wanna do the shtein that's not being done. I wanna be the artist who ain't out. I wanna make the music I wanna hear."

"This stillupfront album is bigger than an album. This is for my daughter, when she looks back and sees all the chump n—as in the game, she'll say, 'My pops was a man.' When I have more kids, they'll see, 'He was a man.' That will inspire them to be real in their life. Some people say I'm conscious, some say I'm a gangsta rapper — it's just me doing me. I'm stomping in my own lane. I'm doing what I do."

"We're taking power from the word," he added. "No disrespect to none of them who were part of the civil-rights movement, but some of my n—as in the streets don't know who [civil-rights activist] Medgar Evers was. I love Medgar Evers, but some of the n—as in the streets don't know Medgar Evers, they know who Nas is. And to my older people who don't now who Nas is and who don't know what a street disciple is, stay outta this muthafargin' conversation. We'll talk to you when we're ready. Right now, we're on a whole new movement. We're taking power from that word."
