We were supposed to adopt from a Russian city Yekaterinburg before we switched to Ukraine.

These are some pictures of the mafia members killed in action.  Well, their grave markers anyway.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to present the cast of characters in the next installment of Grand Theft Auto.

Yeah, so my friend left yesterday out of NY. My first time ever being in NY and to get to LaGuardia you have to go through the city right down 34th street. I was proud of myself for being able to make it through the traffic without losing my cool, using my finger and/or horn. I didn't get lost either. One thing I noticed about NY was how they rape people on tolls. Jesus Christ! And the airport parking was expensive too. So were the two beers I had to go throw down after she got on the plane. I had two Labatt's and it was like $17.

She actually missed her first flight. Me and the others in the group were at another gate waiting for her friend to board her plane and I saw her walking down the hall and couldn't believe my eyes. They changed the gate and she didn't hear the announcement because she was still out saying goodbye and got down there late. But it was cool because she got to spend an extra 3 hours there.

The bottom line is that I am a miserable sonofabitch now.

I don't know if you ever heard this before...New York is expensive.  Also, woman is man's ruin.

Time to embrace your fate, pony up for a ticket to Peru, and give chase.

Great advice.

Peru's not a bad place to visit, take a tour and check out their ancient ruins (if you go)

Yeah, I was on-line looking at ticket prices last night. Not too bad, I guess. I am going to go but probably not until school is over. Problem is that her semester is from like March until July so maybe I am looking at August. We're going to Jamaica too, probably in December.

I just got offered a transfer to recruit in Philly for 2-3 years and they can move me as early as May.  As much as I'd love being stationed back home for a few years I don't think there's any way I can handle recruiting any longer than I have to.  My old "boss" in Kansas City wants me back out there too.  If I get a chance to go then I'll jump on that in a heartbeat.

Yesterday I was offered a move to Philly again, but this time with a twist.....

My office is getting ready to shut down in the next few months so they are looking to move all of the recruiters to other stations.  I've been on recruiting duty for 23 months now but in order for it to go on my record as me having completed a successful tour on recruiting duty I must complete at least 30 months which means that I don't have enough time remaining for them to actually move me to another office unless I voluntarily extend for 2-3 more years.  Which I already turned down.

So the offer is they will pay for me to go to Philly for the next 6 months so that I can complete my 30 months on recruiting duty.  They won't actually move me up there, meaning I leave my house down here with all my furniture and stuff in it.  No big deal though since I've got family and friends that I can crash with.

Once I've completed my 30 months I'll be given the option to either remain on recruiting duty in Philly for 2-3 more years or I'll be given orders to a new duty station.  Either way, I'll have to come back to NC to pack my stuff up and move.

So I told them that I would do it.  This is a good thing for me for a few reasons.

1.  I hate living down here so any chance to leave early is a welcomed opportunity.

2.  It will give me a chance to see how I like recruiting in Philly before making a final decision to either accept or deny a long term transfer.  I'm not crazy about recruiting but I honestly do think that most of my problems stem from location rather than my ability vs difficulty of the job.

3.  It'll be really convenient for me to be in Philly during the summer when my kids visit.  I won't have to worry about daycare or anything because I'll have plenty of support from my family.  And I also don't have to worry about burning vacation days just so I can take them from NC up to PA and visit with family.  Now I can actually use my vacation and do something fun with them.

So if this thing ends up going through, the I can expect to be back home somewhere around April 1 and will remain there through the end of September, possibly even October.

My only complaint is that this shtein couldn't have happend during football season, could it?  Nooooooo.  Instead, if I want to go to a game I have to drive 1000 miles round trip in less than 36 hours.  But, at least I'll get to check out plenty of Phillies games this year and it looks like I'll be around for the 1st month of the regular season too.  So I guess I got that going for me.

Now, who wants to let me crash with them?

MDS

They'll be some empty rooms in my place over the summer. Don't even think about, Spanky.

Hey, you're young and stupid.  Join the Marines.  Just wait until I get up there first so I can get credit for it.

MDS

Sure. I'll risk my life to fight in meaningless wars that have no justification, and are continuing to add to the ever growing anti-Americansim that is ever present in today's globalized society. No problem.

Sweet.  I'm on my way to earning a 3 day weekend.
