Trying to find temporary sublets is the worst. I was picky of who I contacted at first but now I'm just throwing shtein against the wall because I don't expect anyone to answer - I've contacted maybe 25 people and only 1 person got back to me and they were not helpful at all. I'm not going to do an extended stay hotel because $100 a night for 1-2 months is just stupid. I've even looked for hostels but those are pretty much just as expensive.

I'm starting a new job on Long Island in August, and I'm looking for sublets anywhere in Nassau County, Queens, and parts of the Bronx. Given the area I don't expect it to be remotely close to cheap, but I know I'm moving again in the beginning of October. I'd rather rent out a room in a dump of an apartment and live w/ roommates while saving a bunch of extra money for now since I know it's just temporary.

also if you are working on long island and to keep costs down i would look at these neighborhoods...the stuy....prospect lefferts gardens...and midwood in crooklyn....and sunnyside...woodside or jackson heights in queens....oh crown heights in the bk as well

I am using craigslist, except of the first ~15 I contacted, nobody responded. Didn't know if that was the norm or not. Since last night I've had two people get back to me from CL w/ a furnished room or studio between 700 and 800 a month that are on the island and within 8 miles of work. so I'll wind up with one of those. I didn't want to live in the city for now, come October I'll be finding a place in the city somewheres w/ gf so I'd rather take it easy until then.
