Keeping up discussion on I95 because I don't know the area well - my parents live around Downingtown and I'm in the area for Father's day. Trying to get the beginning of the week off to catch the A+ All Star Game in Wilmington. How zesty is the traffic going to be? I take 202 and get on 95 for just a few miles. Looks like Frawley Stadium is about a mile before the river

ice grillin you

it wont be an issue since you arent going to be on it for more than a mile or whatever it is....but technically you dont even have to get on 95....202 goes right downtown to market st then you just have to work your way over to the field

IGYs right, you technically don't even need 95 and it will be a complete mess in that area at that time of day. 202 into the city won't exactly be a lot of fun either, but it does go right into the city and from there you've justgotta find a way over to the riverfront. I don't really know how to give you good directions without confusing you, but your best bet would probably be to cut through trolley square and get over to 4th street, which is the exit you'd be using off of 95. Driving down that part of 4th street isn't the prettiest, but it'll only last 6-7 blocks before you're at the intersection where the offramp from 95 is, at which point you take a right and follow your GPS over to the stadium.

I can get more specific but it'll be a lot of street names that mean nothing to you and you'd prob just as well sit in traffic than take your chances getting lost haha. If you want though I'll PM you a google map of the route.

Don't know if you've ever been to Frawley but its a nice little stadium. I worked there for 4 years, loved that job. Theyll have a ton of entertainment for the kids, and some decent food/beer options. I'm pretty sure they have a Chickie&Pete's now.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Oh, and to answer your question more specifically, traffic is going to be a conplete shteinshow. I've noticed it starting to get backed up as early as 345-400ish, and the wait to get on 95 from 202 alone is probably going to be 15-20 minutes

If I go, I can just head into the city early afternoon and try to avoid traffic. I'm looking at Google Maps now and it says this route would be 44 minutes, but in current traffic almost 2 hrs. I could probably try to head in around 1pm, explore the area and shtein. I've only been on the outskirts of Wilmington.

Never been to Frawley but I hear it's nice, yeah. Had a buddy work in their marketing department a couple years ago. I like minor league ballparks a lot, usually have a lot of character.

The Riverfront itself is pretty nice, unfortunately it's surrounded by some not too great areas. Most of the dining options are chain places (Timothy's, Joe's Crab Shack, Big Fish Grill), but there's a path along the river itself that is a nice walk, about a mile and a half. Firestone Roasting House has a pretty nice, large outdoor bar and dining area right on the river. Never had their pizza but heard it's decent.

Some of the better, more 'cultural'/social/naturey areas are unfortunately a drive away from the Riverfront, near Trolley Sqaure and the surrounding area. Branywine Park is a beautiful park and has a nice little zoo in it.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm going to spring for tickets on Wednesday or Thursday once I know if I'm going, so I'll get at you then.

FWIW...there's also an Iron Hill Brewery location in amongst the other chain places.
