We pay about 65 bucks a month for water but that also includes sewer, trash pickup, storm water, & recycling.  Our usage is about 80-100 gallons a day but I'm a fanatic when it comes to conservation.  We've replaced our toilets, we use a low-usage washer, we never use the dishwasher and we use water flow restrictors on the faucets and shower heads.

Yeah, we got a low usage, front load washer too.  I haven't gone so far as to put restrictors on the faucets yet...it would be a smart cheap thing to do. 

I'll replace toilets when I renovate the bathrooms they are in, or when they break.  I don't have the coin to set about doing that just to drop water usage.

I'm under the impression that the dishwasher uses less water than hand washing does.  [Kinda like an automatic car wash uses less water than a hand wash.]  Assuming of course that it's fully loaded when it is run.

I have a water saving, top loading washer. And a newer, water saving dishwasher. I also have low volume toilets, but I modified them because they sucked. I didn't see the economy of having to flush 2 to 4 times just to clear all of the...um...matter.

I'd like it if the kids would take shorter showers, and if they would pay attention to the toilet and make sure it isn't going to run on.

There's three of us in the house.  Doing all the little things (especially replacing the 10 year old POS washer) basically cut our water usage by 25% or more.

Our electric bill is another matter, though.  It's obscene mostly because the A/C runs day and night in the summer.  I was going to replace it with a more efficient system but it's a 50+ year-old block house with no insulation in the walls, so there's really no point especially considering what I'm going through otherwise.

We do what we can to conserve, though.  I'm a knucklehead about turning off all electrical appliances and lights but we still get slaughtered in the summer.
