Remember those four Russian diplomats that were abducted in Iraq?  And then found dead a few days ago?

Yeah.  Well, Vladimir Putin isn't too farging happy about it.  He's unilaterally deploying Russian special forces to hunt down and destroy the kidnappers, nevermind what whoever is supposedly in control in Iraq has to say about it.  Iraqi government, U.S. occupiers, he gives a shtein:  they've utterly failed to keep the peace, and Putin has zero faith in their ability to bring the murderers to justice.

So he's gonna do it himself.  As long as the U.S. can simply invade Iraq..why can't Russia?

QuoteRussians Send Special Forces to Iraq
MOSCOW (AP) - June 28, 2006 - President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday ordered Russia's special services to hunt down the killers of four Russian hostages in Iraq, the Kremlin said.

"The president has ordered the special forces to take all necessary measures to find and destroy the criminals who killed Russian diplomats in Iraq," the Kremlin press service said.

It did not specify what forces might be involved. Agents of the Foreign Intelligence Service and the Federal Security Service - the main successor to the KGB - could be considered special forces.

Putin also said Russia "will be grateful to all its friends for any information on the criminals," the Kremlin said.

The order follows Monday's confirmation by the Foreign Ministry that four Russian Embassy workers seized in Iraq in early June had been killed.

Earlier Wednesday, the lower house of the Russian parliament decried the murders and said that "occupying" countries are losing control in Iraq.

Russia has strongly opposed the U.S.-led military campaign in Iraq.

The statement by the State Duma "deplores the death of our compatriots ... expresses profound indignation over the fact of their brutal murder and strongly denounces the criminals, who committed that heinous crime."

It said the abduction and killing were possible because "of the deepening crisis in Iraq, while the occupying countries are losing control over the situation, and terror and violence are becoming the order of the day in that country."

How does the White House/State Department deal with this?  Are they gonna try to say Russia has no authority?  That would be hilarious.

p.s.  U.S. just admitted to killing another non-combatant accidentally, though they don't propose to do anything about it other than remind Marines not to get caught by the press killing civilians.

Yeah, until they get in a firefight with American forces "by accident".  Then it's a farging nightmare.

you need a new bank.  i've never heard of getting charged a fee for using your card at stores.   shtein, i get charged if i don't use it at least once a month.  I have Wachovia, the only excess fees I pay are if i use a non-Wachovia ATM.

I'm cheering for the guy myself.

Yeah well maybe the U.S. should've thought about that before they charged in dick first.

Without getting into a full on war discussion, I like it that he said "Oh yeah? You killed some of my people? Well here we come to cram a Vodka bottle up your ass and put one of those silly/cool hats on your turbinhead"

Me too.  Unlike the U.S., he's focused on the people who actually did his country harm.

I also like that he's basically daring the U.S. to challenge his authority to go in there and take care of his own business.  He was right to oppose the invasion from the start, and he's right to ignore any supposed authority the U.S. claims to that ruined state.

Putin:'you created this disaster, and now our diplomats are dying because of it.  I'll be damned if I rely on you fools to deliver justice, and there's not a goddamned thing you can say about it.'

see theres my problem, I use a Credit Union. while it has multiple advantages in other areas, using it at ATM's, convenient stores and grocery stores, etc...it does not.

MadMarchHare

I'm in full agreement with you Dio.  But it will create a full scale political disaster if Americans kill Russkies or vice versa.
