ice grillin you

they arent getting hutchinson and bently

and true tackle would still be a big issue...but bently is young so its not like they are getting him for one year and the lack of tackles would cancel out the move...this move would be exclusive from the tackle situation...plus with their center position being so bad right now who cares...they should throw a parade if they pull off a fraley to bently upgrade

yeah, by no means whatsoever am i shteinting on these possible moves.  i'm just saying that there are still concerns on the line, this year and moving forward.

Bentley and Hutchinson would be awesome.

but they still will have tackle issues.

Tra at LT
Herremans at RT

Tra is oft injured and Herremans would be a 1st time starter

that would be the case with or without bentley/hutchinson....are there any decent tackles available?

A few points:

1) If the Eagles sign Bentley, he'll be the center.  I agree w/ those who don't understand why this would be a question.  Center is tougher to play than Guard.  If you've got a guy who has been a Pro Bowl at center, you let him play there unless you've got another Pro Bowler at center on your roster.  Jackson can play guard and be freed from having to make the line calls and dealing w/ snapping the ball.

2) Bentley vs. Hutchinson.  Ignoring for a moment the possibility of getting both because I think that's very unlikely, focusing on Bentley instead of Hutchinson is the right strategy.  Hutchinson's value has been a bit inflated b/c everyone talked about him w/ the Seahawks being in the Bowl.  He does play next to a great tackle and with three other terrific linemen.  Not saying he isn't a great player - he absolutely is and I'd want him on this team if possible, but I don't know that that he is all that much better than Bentley.  Plus, Bentley is three years younger and is more versatile.  Further, Hutchinson is transition tagged, so the Seahawks have 7 days to match, which might prevent the Eagles from making other moves until they found out whether the Hawks would match or not.

3) Bentley and Hutchinson.  Okay, it's nice to dream about, but I'd be shocked if this happened.  It might be worth making a big offer though.  Either you end up w/ two stud Pro Bowl linemen, or you end up w/ one and force the Seahawks to use up more cap room to retain Hutchinson.

4) I wonder if Dallas will file a tampering charge against the Eagles on this in return for that little episode w/ Owens.  If a deal is in place it's technically tampering.  Everyone does it and no one cares, but since the Eagles made a stink for a few days last season, maybe Jones returns the favor.  Of course, the Cowboys might already have a deal w/ Vinatieri in place.

I agree, but those two could clearly be the starters from the Eagles viewpoint.

SunMo

yeah, no doubt, but that's where i see a potential problem.

i would love to see them sign Bentley and Runyan, and play Herremans at LG while they draft a stud LT of the future.

unless the Eagles still plan on Andrews being their RT of the future and Herremans as the LT.

hunt

i like runyan & i hope he's back but i'd rather have bentley at C than have runyan back...of course, both would be sweet, as would hutchinson.

yeah that's entirely possible.  Herremans was the one filling in for Tra last year at TC right?

yeah, Herremans was at LT and was playing well until he broke his ankle/leg whatever it was.

ice grillin you

herremans is not a guard....if he isnt good enough to start at T then he backs up at that position

i dont doubt that herremans could one day be a nice T...im leery of putting all my eggs in his basket this year

as for signing importance

bently and runyan>your life

bently>runyan or hutch

runyan>hutch

why can't herremans play guard?  Welbourn did and he was a tackle.

ice grillin you

i mean he can...he could also play nose tackle im sure...but hes a prototypical T and i dont think he should be moved from there...hes to tall to play guard...his lack of center of gravity would have him getting thrown around imo

can he play guard...sure
is he a guard...no way
