Degrading shopping experiences

O.k., based on a build-up of extremely frustrating experiences, I have to ask this question.  I know you don't "know" me from Adam (but I've posted on this board before...believe me) - but I would greatly appreciate your honesty.  For those of you who have or have had jobs where you are dealing with or in proximity to the general shopping public  - does (or did) part of your "job" include keeping your eye on customers to prevent them from shoplifting?  Do/did you watch customers who may seem "supicious", because you thought that they would steal (or were stealing)?  Is this a widespread practice (employees watching/following customers)?

Even those people who may not have had are welcome to post any insights/experiences they have on this matter.  Thanks...your time and input is appreciated.

I worked at sears and yes, it was kind of expected to keep an eye on 'suspicious people' i.e., mostly  trailer trash, thug looking fools with big clothes as they carried a pile of clothes into the dressing rooms and middle eastern folk. I never gave a farg though, I was too busy not doing my job and counting the minutes until I got out.

Moral of the story, try not to be trailer trash, thuggish or middle eastern when you go shopping.

Oh, and would we be talking about the same Adam?

First off, we hope you're different from Adam.  We already have an Adam here... and his punk ass sure ain't no picnic.

Second, I worked at Sears at one point myself, in the loss-prevention dept. and it was our job to keep an eye on "suspicious" people with the overhead cameras when they entered the store.  You're trained to look for a certain behavior more than anything else in people... but personally, I just kept an eye on all the black people.

Btw... if you've never worked in loss-prevention, I suggest you try to get into it.  There's not a bigger rush in this world than tackling a fleeing criminal through a stack of "Roos" shoeboxes.  It's better than sex.

More than one.

And Crossroids...what's the issue? Do you feel your rights are being violated in some way?

Yeah, but only one who I've seen publically do nothing to dispell the stereotype that white guys can't dance to save their lives.

More than anything, I'm wondering why you're coming in with an alias if you've posted here before.  Perhaps you're trying to steal something?

Keep your eyes on this one, guys; I think he's going to try to sneak out with our keen football insight.  He looks the type.

You will refer to them as "truth" and "justice", thank you very much.

I guess this is proof that truth is only a myth, and justice is withering away.
