I still think Sassy should simply take the iPod back to the store.

He's a stubborn son of a gun, though, so you never know what he'll do.

Susquehanna Birder

Take it all back to the store and give up.

Install Quicktime. Uninstall Quicktime.

The ipod software is supposed to have QT on it.  I don't know what the hell the problem was and why QT wasn't properly installing.  I ended up just doing a google search for it, found the right software and installed it.  Problem solved.  Now I've just got to get all my music off my laptop and put it on my new pc.  That should be fun.  Especially since the ehternet port on my laptop is broken.  I'm probably going to have to burn everything to cd to transfer it.

Take your laptop back to the store.

I knew it was coming.  I KNEW it.  And yet it's still funny.

While you're at it, take this thread back to the store as well.

If you don't have one, just borrow a router from a friend to set up a network.  It'd be way less labor intensive than burning everything to CD if you have a lot of music...particularly if you don't have a DVD burner.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Have you ever heard of wireless networking, Sassy?

Sgt PSN

Yeah, but don't I have to buy additional software/hardware to set that up?

I've got a wireless router and both my laptop and desktop are connected to it.  Is that all I need to do or is there more?

PoopyfaceMcGee

It's a simple matter of setting up Windoze networking between the two.

I'm guessing that can be done by going to the networking icon on my control panel?

Step One: Format your hard drive.
Step Two: Open window.
Step Three: Hurl PC out the window.
Step Four: Hurl self out window.
Step Five: ??
Step Six: Profit.

That's a start.  You have to make sure file sharing is turned on, blah blah, etc, and so forth.

I'm not getting into more detail to help you, because I hate Windows file-sharing and avoid it at all costs.  It's a shame you don't have a working ethernet port.  That would be so simple.

If you don't want to farg around with networks, get a 2 gig usb memory stick and move it that way.  lot faster than burning CDs.  $100 bucks for the device and they're useful as all hell so it wouldn't be a big waste of money.
