I also lived in the same room that Tom Cruise got blown up in towards the end of the movie. You're jealous, I can tell.

You're my new idol. Did they leave his fake blood in the room with all the rumble or did they clean it? If they cleaned it up you got hosed.

Unfortunately, they cleaned the room up.  The movie was made a few years before I started going to school there.  But when they rebuilt the walls you could totally tell which bricks were new and which ones were old.

And let me say that I'm honored to be your idol.  Now get me a farging drink.

Skeet skeet bitches!

Quote from: TexasEagle on August 30, 2006, 02:34:43 PMThe key difference, though, is that posters here don't almost universally act like they're not only disciples of the head coach, but they don't act like sanctimonious pricks when it comes to talking about the sport.

You mean like this post from 2002?

QuoteI am completely at ease. Totally contented. Calm. No worries at all about this game against the Eagles. In my life I've had a handful of "feelings" about games. Feelings that just knew we would win. Many who've seen me here the last few years knows I've won bets on those feelings.

How I feel now is precisely like that. This game is in the bag is how I feel now. It's going to be a huge coming out party and Spurrier is going to put together a game plan that wins us this game by 14 or more points. I'm not, though, going to officially declare this as a "feeling" game and I won't bet it, despite the fact that it is the same feeling I've had before and has never been wrong.

I'm a huge "symbol behind the game" guy. I believe while this game is most certainly not a must-win game for the taterskins, it is probably more important than a must-win game. This is an announcement game for Spurrier and his taterskins. This game is Spurrier's first real chance to quiet everyone. In the past the taterskins have had games that could have announced they were back as a player in the league's upper echelon, but, the team has always failed.

My lingering Norvitis is all that prevents me from declaring this a dead-lock cinch. My knowledge of how some members of this team played with it all on the line a year ago prevents that. But, in my heart, this game isn't even exciting for me. The opener was nervous and exciting. I didn't know what to expect. I feared that game so very much.

This game is not inspiring worry. I have total confidence that all things being largely equal between these two teams, that Spurrier will be the edge we have not had in far too long against teams. It's very early in Spurrier's time here. A loss wouldn't be terrible or unexpected. But, Spurrier's aura is such that a loss here is inconceivable to me.

We already have more overall talent than the Eagles. They are beat up. We are at home. This is a nationally televised coming out party. The Eagles are already out. We're not. The Eagles may throttle us later in the year, or hell, even Monday. I just have this complete peace about Monday.

It's too early in the year to properly judge whether this feeling is meaningful based upon proper reads of what Spurrier and his staff are doing, or just blind Gator-inspired fan love. Perhaps it's the latter. I know Spurrier isn't going to win every big game he coaches as a pro. But, Spurrier strikes me as the guy that's going to win all of the first big games he's coaching in.

So, while this post is going to open me up to ridicule from our Philly fans should we lose, which I admit is a possibility, the fact is, I can't get my mind around the fact that every time I've had this feeling, we've won comfortably. Spurrier's taterskins are coming. They're coming Monday. You will know a whole lot more about this football team and Spurrier's time here just from his second game as a coach.

In my world where the meaning behind a game is ever crucial, this game is the most important Spurrier will coach all year. There may be more meaningful games, in terms of team placement later in the year, but this is the game that starts to mold Spurrier's legacy. And, I can't stop thinking, "It's in the bag."

Yep, I'll give credit to one of our own on there though for finding it. Here's another classic:

QuoteThe Eagles have lost four of their starting front seven. They've lost a guard and have a hobbled tackle. There is no running game to speak of. McNabb is as streaky as ever. You lack the talent we have at most spots other than QB, and there, our guy is playing better. I realize that Eagle fans enjoy being hyped as a good team since they've so rarely been anything more than hype.

But, in this game, clearly, the better team is the taterskins. From corners, to linebackers, to the defensive line, to the offensive line to the receivers to the running backs, we have clear and unquestionable advantages talent-wise at each spot heading into this contest. No, the Eagles chances at winning a game have never really been based on having the better team. It's having the better McNabb.

When he's playing like the first half of Tennessee, your team can win, while lacking the talent of most you'll face. When he's playing like the second half, well, then you'll lose as a team with serious talent questions at this point. Too many injuries coupled with too many questions in the first place limit your top side. But, it's early and your guys may recover in time to make a late push. Good luck.

The result of the game in question?  :-D

MDS

Old Man Levens ran all over their defense, and farging James Thrash dropped 107 and a touch on 6 catches. Wow.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Predictions.  They usually look foolish when you re-read them.  Maybe not as Artastic as that one, but I'm sure someone could bring up game predictions on this site that look pretty bad after the fact.

Hell, Mel Kiper has Mike Williams as his highest rated player in the draft, and look where Williams is now.

Not really.  We're pretty much batting 1.000 'round these parts.

That opening drive where Thrash utterly embarrassed Smoot on his route, was outstanding. Total silence from the Skins fans... not that that is anything new.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?
