Yea...and Washington will suck this year. Who knows how Denver will do, but surely this trade will end up sucking for the Skins.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

PhillyPhreak54

OHMYGOD!

WASHINGTON GOT TJ DUCKETT!

Please.

Spare me the "realizing they have a shot" crap too.

PhillyPhreak54

Also, Duckett is a UFA after 2006.

So the taterskins traded a 3rd round pick for a guy who will likely walk away via free agency. Would he sign there knowing that Portis is the man? Not likely because he wanted more carries in ATL and wasn't getting them behind Warrick Dunn.

This also could be a good indicator of how Portis' shoulder is coming along - not good.

Ladell Betts is a guy who Al Saunders really likes. They also have Rock Cartwright in the RB mix too. I would guess that Cartwright is the odd man out here.

But if they for whatever reason think Betts is the odd man out - I'd bring him in.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Betts and Cartwright are both solid.  Frankly, I'm not laughing at the Skins, because I'm just downright confused.

It's like they have to find excuses to lessen the burden of their college scouts every year.

ice grillin you

again the skins dont care about the draft they prefer to build thru FA and trades for players that are more proven than the unknown that coems with draft picks...

portis - lloyd - randel el - carter - duckett - griffin - washington - archuletta

thats a pretty good young group of players they have aquired by those means

and its not as if they havent drafted guys as well...

campbell -  cooley - taylor - rogers - mcintosh - betts - samuels - jansen

some real nice players there and some prospects....not much different from most other teams

its just a different philosophy...the taterskins realize that the salary cap is a myth perpetuated by owners who dont wanna spend money

The taterskins gave up a third round draft pick for nothing more than an insurance policy.

Brilliant.

Pointing and laughing...   :-D

what are the chances that third round pick would have a produced a better player than duckett...or what are the chances that they go out and sign a player this offseason who is better than whoever that third round pick would have been...not to mention duckett is only 25 so he basically was a draft pick

would you rather have chris gocong or tj duckett on the eagles right now?

Why would you compare Gocong & Duckett?  Oh, I know... that was your way of making a point.  It's a stupid way to make a point, though.

How about we compare another 3rd round draft pick to Duckett?  Hmmm... now, who was a third round draft pick who plays the same position as Duckett?

Oh, yeah... I got one...

PoopyfaceMcGee

The move still baffles me.  Ladell Betts and Rock Cartwright are both bigger backs who have done well when given opportunities.  I simply don't see Duckett as a significant upgrade over either of them.

PhillyPhreak54

Snyder = fantasy football owner.

Simple as that.

Him and his boy Vinny Cerrato collect names.

ice grillin you

basically snyder saw a name player was available got excited and overpaid for him to be an insurance policy to portis...much the same way that the eagles need one for westbrook...did he overpay yes....did he solidify and improve a position yes

How about we compare another 3rd round draft pick to Duckett?  Hmmm... now, who was a third round draft pick who plays the same position as Duckett?

that wouldnt be fair because westbrook is the exception to the rule in the third round...my point is do you want to take a chance on a 23 year old third rounder that might be good one day but probably wont....or do you want a 25 year old proven nfl player...ill take the latter everytime

I think it is a very good move by the skins.  Betts is pretty good but has really struggled with injuries and with Portis already hurt with a shoulder that could be problematic all year, it was a smart move.  I also think it is Betts last year of his contract and Duckett will be their future.  Portis has racked up a lot of mileage in Denver and Washington and rotating with Duckett should extend his career.

Smart move for Denver.  I question Atlanta in this trade.  They need a #3 WR but pick up a WR who doesn't seem to fit their system and they only have for the remainder of his contract, which is this year.  Plus, they are now depending on the rookie Norwood to back-up Dunn.  Very curious for a team that depends on the run.

PoopyfaceMcGee

The Falcons' best RB touches the ball on every offensive play anyway.

phattymatty

i don't see how anyone can say lelie doesn't fit the falcons system.  even though vick isn't that great of a pocket passer, he has a cannon for an arm.  which would fit lelie perfect.  you go run as far as you can and i'll throw it deep.

i cant see duckett finally getting out of dunns shadow only to sign with a team who would use him as a back up....he wants to start and even if he cant find that somewhere in the league he can certainly find a team who has a less entrenched and not as good starting rb as portis
