You may not necessarily need a #1, but if you don't have one, you had better have a very effective running game. The Eagles do not. They probably could, but they don't bother trying. And since that's the case, they need a #1. Maybe Brown will become that guy, but he isn't yet.

That's fine, but that's not the subject of the debate, the subject is whether you can talk about 'depth' without a true #1. I say you can.

McNabb/Westbrook > Alexander/Hassleback

the birds no doubt have a better qb, but lets be real here

McNabb/Westbrook = Alexander/Hassleback

as better as mcnabb is to baldy hasslebeck...alexander trumps westbrook by the same amount.

I would say that the difference between Alexander and Westbrook is about 10 times as large as the difference between McNabb and Hasselbeck.

Homertastic, but true:  Santana Moss was not a legit #1 until he proved so last season.

if alexander could catch and keep his fumbling down (not that it plagues him, but compared to westbrook, westbrook has 6 career fumbles to alexanders 23 - 2 year longer career though) i would agree. but alexander is borderline useless as a reciever compared to westbrook.

Without looking up his stats, doesn't alexander average over 40 catches a year? I'd hardly call that useless.

its about 30 catches a year. 31 or 32.

and i am strictly comparing him to westbrooks catches. which is why i say the QB/RB tandems are equal between the birds and the seabirds.... not an overall assesment. because for a player like him, he's no where near a liability to any team he would be playing on.

Where does the Brunell/Portis tandem fit into this mix?

rjs246

Wingspan, this is where I hate this kind of comparison. If Alexander runs for 1000 more yards than Westbrook, scores 10 more TDs but has 30 less catches with 300 less yards does that somehow make them or close to it? Not remotely. A RB catching a bunch of passes but rushing inconsistently at best doesn't even begin to approximate a RB who rushes for 1600, 1700 or 1800 yards with 15-25 TDs. Even if the 1700 yard back only catches 30 passes. The two aren't even comparable.

McNabb and Hasselbeck ARE comparable. 20-30 TDs. 3000-4000 yards. McNabb adds the ability to evade the rush, but put him behind Seattle's line and he wouldn't have to do that as much. McNabb is far more talented, but their abilities as QBs aren't that far apart. Certainly not as far apart as Westbrook's and Alexander's.

ice grillin you

and we are comparing westbrook to alexander why??

i realize they are different

but alexander>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>westbrook

and unlike rjs i love 36
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

rjs246

hey man, i love westbrook when they use him correctly. Mixed into the offense as a weapon, catching passes, running occasionally, returning kicks... as a feature back, he's useless.

Correct, less Alexander-talk & more impotent jabs at Skins fans.

This should get things on the right path:

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Washington taterskins have traded QB Patrick Ramsey to the New York Jets for a 2006 sixth-round pick.

PoopyfaceMcGee

...and there goes that taterskins front office again, collecting draft picks like no one's business!  HA!

Ramsey... 1st to 6th
Feeley... 5th to 2nd

Pointing, and laughing.
