I think its a hybrid hick/collar poppin' sububs kid name.

I could see some seashell necklace wearing scrote named Dakota. Probably the kid whose parents have all his jersey numbers and team name stickers plastered all over the back of their hybrid SUV.

It sounds like they may have lost DB Givens before his career even started.  He has not met the academic requirements to get into school.  He is now eligible to sign with any school. 

Supposedly Joe Pa is trying to have a meeting with Spanier this evening to see if they can work something out so the kid can stay.  If not he has Florida, South Carolina, UNC, Rutgers and a few others that he may now attend. 

I was listening to a local podcast of Royer yesterday he said PSU is going to get a few more major commitments that should put the class over the top.  He said he could not disclose who the players were.

Rumor is Givens was told to take a class, he got an A, but they didnt communicate he had to take another course, and he didnt meet eligibility requirements.  Funny he cant get into PSU, but Miami and a whole group of other schools are all over him.

yet another reason why penn state will never run with the big boys again...you have to let anyone and everyone in these days and cheat to be with the elite of college football

the worst part of this is you lose an absolute stud from the dc region and even tho penn state did nothing wrong they will still be talked about in a negative light...same way maryland was hurt big time by the derrick williams fiasco

What will save them in that area is LJ, he has that area locked.  If it wasn't for the fact that they have such a good crop of incoming players for 2010 I would agree, but most kids are going to see that and not care about 1 player. 

I don't know if I agree about them not being able to run with the big boys again either.  They definitely are taking guys that 10-15 years ago they wouldn't have even considered.  What you say might end up being true.  Though their tradition, their stadium, and the amount of money in that program will go a long way.

if they took anyone theyd still have a hard time being in the elite just because the south and west have so many more players than the east and north and 95% of those players dont even know where penn state is....thats why when they get great players like a givens that pretty much any school in the country would want they have to take them no matter what

they will always be in the top 20 because they are one of the better teams in a terrible conference but unless paternos replacement is some incredible big name coach thats willing to and allowed to do ANYTHING it takes they will never be more than a team that has a chance to win the big ten every few years

Like I said you may be right, but the fact they are even competitive right now is amazing to me.  I thought the year they played FSU was just a flash in the pan, but they seem to have parlayed that into getting back into the national spotlight.

i dont think they are competitive in terms of the best teams tho which is where they used to be back in the day...dont get me wrong ive been more than pleased with what theyve done the last five years but im afraid this is the best that it gets and i just wish expectations were higher every year

Well if they continue to do what they are doing they will be with the alumni.  Whether or not that is realistic is another story.
