FWIW the latest rumor is Chip Kelly to PSU and Petersen to Oregon

I can't believe Phil Knight would let that happen.

Edit: #3 kind of explains that.

Supposedly PSU's current wish list:

1. Chris Petersen (not looking good)
2. Mike Munchak (would have to miss playoffs)

3a. Jim Grobe (Legendz is crossing his fingers)
3b. David Cutcliffe (Too bad there are no more Mannings)

Ha, I think Grobe's personality is a good fit and would do fairly well stabilizing the program.

That being said, he would make PSU even more conservative if that was somehow possible.  It is maddening to watch a team have 1st and 10 with 55 seconds left on the 30 yard line down 2, run once into the line, call a TO with 10 seconds left, and try a 48 yard FG for the win because he doesn't want to risk the team throwing an interception.

That would actually be a good plan with Mratt McFavre at QB.

FWIW sekrahsports whoever that is on twitter is saying it isn't Kelly, though it is a major college coach and it would be a shocker.

Don't know who the guy is but he was the first to report on Pitt's coach and one of the first on Meyer.

Yeah I am with you on that....its hard to believe they will get a big name coach waiting this long.

Rome

It's not really that hard to believe considering almost every big time coach who'd be interested is still prepping his team for an upcoming bowl game.

Sgt PSN

And considering that the 2012 recruiting class is going to suck, they might as well wait for a big name guy, take their lumps in 2012 and focus on 2013.

PoopyfaceMcGee

The "big names" that are being bantered about all sound preposterous.

Stoops.
Saban.
Miles.
YearightLOL

Can they hire Tressel? That would be a very intriguing hire for me.

Drunkmasterflex

Stoops would be the only one that would kind of make sense, Miles and Saban LOL is right.

Flavor of the day:
Jon Gruden

Also Pat Fitzgerald is still in the mix, apparently. And the "8.0 earthquake" guy sekrahsports on twitter has been completely discredited, to no one's surprise.

Drunkmasterflex

I can't imagine Gruden turning down OSU and Miami then accepting the Penn State job.

Who the hell knows though, just about everyone has been rumored to this job.

phattymatty

gruden seems to really love being an espn guy but i'd love it.

Rome

He seems to miss teaching a lot plus there's the who savior thing...

Stranger things have happened.

MDS

if jon gruden, who could have like 10 different nfl jobs and currently has one of the cushiest gigs out there, is the next penn state coach i will fly down to florida and personally give rome the best handjob hes ever had in his 60 years of whining and being angry about things.

then ill WALK to south carolina and give FF some of the attention he craves. wanna go to a bar and watch the game, buddy?
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

PoopyfaceMcGee

That's on my to do list just under showering with Sandusky.

Decision has been made. Search committee disbanded.

Munchak is the name du jour again.
