Shawshank, X, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Fight Club, etc and so on. 90's was a good decade for movies.

Of course any move that is overly popular will always be called "overrated" and such.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Cast Away and Forest Gump are farging abominations if you're talking about the best movies of the decade. They don't regularly qualify as the best movie on TBS within a given day.

I hate to borrow an igyism but Forrest Gump is the ultimate MA movie

i actually like forrest gump a lot...not best of anything....but its an excellent watch

i would put cast away on the worst movies of the decade list (obviously only counting legitimate movies that meant to be good)...it was god awful...more amazing tho than calling it the best movie of the deacade is saying you could watch it on a loop...it was suicide inducing the first time...i cant imagine being able to make it thru even a second time much less dozens of times
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

This is exactly how I felt about Cast Away the first time I watched it. I've warmed to it marginally after being forced to see it again and then sitting through a third viewing, but it still doesn't belong anywhere near a best-of list.

i dont see any way that movie could improve with extra viewings...i can see liking it a lot first watch (not really) then it being incredibly boring

and please explain how youve been forced to watch it over and over

Just to clarify, I don't consider Cast Away one of the best movies of the 90's, I'd just like to be on a deserted island by myself, with beer.

The ladyfriend tends to have good taste in movies and she loved it. So she 'forced' me to watch it and I submitted. It's been on TBS 1000000 times since then and one of those times I watched in on my own to see what I actually thought of it.

Verdict: Boring, but well acted and somewhat engaging. The premise is great but the story and execution blow. Hanks and the idea behind it make it watchable. Helen Hunt can choke on her own face and die.

i agree on the premise...before it came out i was thinking this could be really good...but then when you think about it the premise is awful because after the plane crashes (btw it was an amazingly well done plane crash even better than final destination) and he spends 48 hours on the island what do you do...i think it would have worked better if you could have included some scenes from back home or something...i dont know....i just know it was terrible

I loved Forest Gump and Castaway. Most of what Hanks does is solid.

I don't see how anyone could hate Forrest Gump.

Cast Away was meh, but a good meh. Like phreak said, Hanks is pretty much a beast.
