Rumors of a possible deal that will send Daunte Culpepper to the St. Louis Rams for current starting quarterback Marc Bulger and a "mid-round" selection in the 2006 draft have been confirmed tonight. A source close to the situation has told Vikingsboard that the deal has been struck in principle, and is awaiting the Saturday Free Agent deadline for finalization.

"This is not to say that a last minute offer from another team won't be entertained" said the source "But I can tell you with almost certainty that if nobody else steps up in the next 24 hours with a better offer, Culpepper will be a Ram before the weekend is out"

The mid round selection is believed to be a fourth rounder, however that could not be confirmed.
More information to follow.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Actually, it makes sense because he had his best year under Linehan. However, is Bulger the right QB to run Childress' WCO? Or could they perhaps spin him off to Miami or Baltimore for a 3rd round pick and then sign someone like Brees?

Childress may have painted himself into a corner at his first PC when he said  that while with the Eagles they worked Culpepper out, and that the Vikings got the "second best QB" in the draft.

If Bulger is healthy, Childress will be very pleased.

I agree.  Bulger ran the pass-happy Rams offense almost perfectly when both he and his receivers were healthy.  If this is what goes down, it's the best possible deal that Minnesota could have gotten.

Bernie Miklas (reporter in STL) has confirmed with Jay Zigmunt that Bulger for Culpepper is 100% false and is no way going to happen.

Sports reporters are always wrong, though, right?  Always?

From some guy on the EMB, so take it fwiw: Jay Glazer's reporting Culpepper and a 6th to the Raiders for Doug Gabriel and a 3rd.

Schefter on NFL Total Access said there is zero interest from the Raiders, and the Saints. He said there are two deals on the table ready to go for Culpepper, and there are only two teams left that have an advertised interest: Miami and New York. He did stress that he couldn't say it was those two teams with deals in, but said it was an extreme likelihood. Said something will be put on where he is going tomorrow morning.

was it ever announced where he went?

well, Culpepper is a whiny bitch who is coming off a serious injury... and had a terrible time making plays without Randy Moss to toss the ball too.

As many have already mentioned, looks like the Eagles weren't the only ones to get sodomized today.

QuoteVikes get bitten: The Vikings overplayed their hand a bit Friday by putting a deadline on three of the teams they were talking to in trade conversations for quarterback Daunte Culpepper.

All three had the perception from the Vikings that one of the teams were offering a second-round pick.

The Raiders dropped out and were only considering a conditional third-round choice before they got too heavy into the bidding. The Dolphins weren't going to go that high, but might have been willing to give a solid third.

Titans general manager Floyd Reese officially notified the Vikings that he is no longer interested and won't do any more bidding for Culpepper. Reese labeled the talks exploratory and said he liked the current group of Titans quarterbacks. He said that the Titans will concentrate on longer term solutions in the future as opposed to a short-term acquisition.
