I took LA based on line movement mostly today. It was -110/-110 and then swung to -130 despite Verlander. So I went LA.

Also - some twenty something eastern euro dude started off with $400k on LA and has now gone 6-0 on the series and is up to $14m which apparently he will let ride tomorrow in Vegas

Went 9-9-4 yesterday in college. Four pushes. Never had that happen before. Had a max bet on Miami so I was able to eek out a bit of profit.

Chargers +5 — WIN
Lions -10 — WIN
Lions -3 2H — WIN
Vikings PK —WIN
Vikings +3 2H — PUSH
Titans -4.5 —LOSS
Falcons -3.5 — WIN
Falcons -1.5 2H — WIN
Niners +3 — WIN
Patriots -7
Patriots PK 2H

I liked the Jets but the line swung to TB so I'm not touching it. Also like Pittsburgh but the line moved to 10.5 and hacking Ben on the road is tough.

Best NFL day in awhile.

Miami opens at -17 and money pours in on Virginia. Even as it moved to -19.5 money still coming in on the Cavs.  So the play on the Canes is strictly because of that. Line kept moving up despite the money going the other way.

Kinda the same thing with UAB and A&M but not as drastic.

Looking more at Arky right now. Missouri opened -11 and dropped to -8 in Vegas (my guy still has it -9.5) but the Vegas money split is 80% on Missouri and yet it moves towards Arky.

How much do you guys bet a year? Good friend of mine makes over $500,000...he said he bets between $10,000-20,000 a year but that over 10 years he just carries over gains/debts to the next season. He's been down as much as $4,000 but carried that over, he's currently in the + department for $2500 but he's carrying his winnings over to next season. I asked him what's the point of betting games if you're not paying or collecting, win/loss loses its relevance, he just told me he takes a different mindset towards the whole thing.

When I was 18 and s senior in high school, my step dad owed $30,000 to bookies. So my mom divorced him. Guess that's part of the reason I don't gamble even though my whole family did when I was growing up. I remember being a 6 year old and watching a game between the Dolphins and Falcons and thinking to myself "why does my old man care about this game so much".

PhillyPhreak54

All of my gambling money - Vegas and Sports - is in a separate account. My work expense checks, a monthly budgeted amount from salary and other odd and end cash I earn goes into that. So I keep it well separated from my daily life money and savings.

I bet anywhere from $100 to $500 per game with my buddy who is my bookie. When I was betting online I never consistently bet that amount bc I did not like having that much money out there with them. I know people who have five figure balances in their online books and that's crazy. One of those books shtein down and you're out big bucks.

If I want to take more than $500 per game I'll tell my buddy and he books the bet. But it's rare I'll exceed that unless I'm in Vegas and even then it's rare. I had $2000 on the Pats last Super Bowl between money line and spread. That was the most of ever bet on a game.

The key for me and what I always tell people is this is entertainment for me. That's why I keep the money separated. In my mind it's spent already. No different than people who go on hunting or golfing trips or whatever else their hobby may be.

If I win big I will roll some back into the degenerate fund and put the rest into savings or towards a big purchase. For example when I hit that $9000 during March Madness with Matty Bionic and RJS I brought enough home to put $5k into savings. Earlier this year I had a blackjack run that netted $12k and I put $5k of that in the degen Vegas account and the rest went to savings and into the market.

My buddy and I were venmo'ing each other every week but stopped so we wouldn't get flagged. So now we settled up once every month or so or when we see each other in person. Some weeks it's a couple hundred either way and other weeks it's $1-3k. The most he's ever paid me was $4300 after a good week on baseball in July and the most I've lost to him in a week is $1500.

Even if I lost every cent in the account I'd be ok. It'll never get to a point where I'm in trouble. I'd just stop and rebuild it. I pull the rip cord when things get too bad. I had a bad run in Vegas once and I just stopped playing. I had money to keep pushing but it was pointless to chase and not have fun.

The crazy thing is when I started this separate account back in 2010 or so I only had like $1500 to start with. Over the years it's ebbed and flowed. I zeroed out once in 2012 and stopped for awhile and just built it back up.

Since I'm super competitive I look at sports betting as a challenge. That's why I decided to get into the Hilton SuperContest and give it a shot. Next year I'll have my own entry and one with my buddy. We won't have the two other guys in it with us.

Ouch. It's a favorites day. Of the six early games five favorites won and covered. It's crazy because all above were covering until the final minutes. Except the Jets who just did Jets things beginning in the 4th.

Make money on college and lose on NFL!
