I dunno about Singletary being a "token".  I've seen him mentioned as a significant candidate on several media sites.

Just seems very inexperienced in the coaching department, on a team that didn't do very well this year. Detroit got in trouble last time they went looking for a coach because of the minority rule. I'd love to be proven wrong, I loved Singletary as a player and he'd be an interesting head coach IMHO.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports St. Louis Rams DE Anthony Hargrove was hit on the head with a beer bottle during a bar brawl late Tuesday, Jan. 3, in Cottleville, Mo. According to police reports, Hargrove overheard another person say he was going to scam Rams RB Steven Jackson, which prompted Hargrove called Jackson on his cell phone. Jackson tried to get Hargrove to leave, and while the two were on the way out, a fight broke out. Hargrove refused medical treatment at the scene, but he did eventually go to the emergency room of an area hospital. Initial reports to police said 20 to 30 people were involved, but scattered when police arrived. No one was arrested, according to Cottleville police chief Scott Lewis.
