If the NFL Players Association has its way, Terrell Owens will have a shot at playing football again this season, a key union official told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

The players union will not only ask arbitrator Richard Bloch to reduce the financial penalty but will argue that Owens should be reinstated to the "exact status" he had as a player before his suspension.

"That status means that he reports to the practice facility, he goes to team meetings, he practices and, hopefully, he plays," the union source said. "True, we can't force the Eagles to activate him on game day and play him but we feel pretty strongly about our case."

Under the arbitration rules, Bloch cannot make Owens a free agent but if he reinstates the receiver, as the union asks, it could force the team's hand to release him, to avoid the distraction of Owens reporting for work every day.

Financially, the union will argue that the Eagles' four-game suspension of Owens for conduct detrimental to the team was excessive and, at the most, he should miss only one game check for this past weekend's game against the taterskins.

The union source said that when the Eagles notified the NFLPA in writing on Saturday, the team simply stated the Owens was being suspended only for the taterskins game.

"You can't then go out and add three more games after the fact," the union official insisted.

Everyone but the NFLPA is condemning that icehole's actions.  I can't see any conceivable way that an arbitrator would agree with Owens' posse on this issue.

He's the very definition of cancerous and should be banished from the league and so should his piece of shtein agent for that matter.

Yes, 'it was send a nice sign to Rosenfetus,' I just don't think douches like him will ever be driven out of the league.

For the vast majority of his clients, he gets them paid, and that's what the players care about. I mean rumors are already floating around that now that TO has shtein the bed in Philly, Rosenrosen doesn't want anything to do with him. Don't you think that should chase away potential clients?

I mean, who would want to be represented by a guy who bails on you at the first sign of trouble? But it won't make any difference because his slimey ass makes them rich and that is what they care about.

Letting TO back on the team just to 'stick it to' drew would be horrible and accomplish nothing.

And besides. You do sort of want him back. He gives you a minor chubby.
