QuoteOn special teams, Pro Bowl kicker David Akers was back on the practice field and Reid said he could return to kick field goals against the taterskins on Sunday. Jose Cortez, whom the team added last week, figures to handle, at the very least, kickoffs.

I don't quite understand how the "paranoid" face fits in to that one.

Any chance we could resign France and have three injured and mediocre kickers on our team?
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

For FG's, hmmmmmmmmmm....

Akers, Cortez...
Akers, Cortez...
Akers, Cortez...

Yeah, I'll take Akers.

Personally, I want to see more Simoneau.

If brother Akers isn't healthy enough for kick-offs, I'd rather he didn't kick TGs either.  Sounds to me like courting further injury.  Take another week and come back when you're healthy, mr. Kicker.

The plan is for him to not do kickoffs anymore this season, even when he's completely healthy, to help prevent another injury.  Cortez is going to be on this team for the rest of the season no matter what.

Are you suggesting that someone else's post didn't make any sense?

Well Mr. Smartypants, in that case...I'd still hold the farger out one more week.  Let him be well healed before he goes back at it.

But I'm a farging fool, so who cares what I think?

QuoteAkers ready to kick field goals again

PHILADELPHIA — David Akers kicked 50 balls yesterday and pronounced himself ready to play football.

Akers, who hasn't kicked in a game since tearing an already injured hamstring against the Raiders on Sept. 25, returned full-bore to Eagles practice yesterday.

"It was a little awkward out there with pads and a helmet on," Akers said. "It felt like minicamp or something. But I felt great."

Akers initially got hurt in the 49ers game on Sept. 18 and tried to kick again a week later against the Raiders. He's been rehabbing since.

Although he did some kicking on the side last week, yesterday was his first work with a full rush in a team practice session.

"I felt great," he said. "It was real windy, but I hit the ball real well. We went right after it. I had a lot of pop on the ball and there was no pain at all. Barring any setbacks, (playing Sunday) is my goal."

Akers, a three-time Pro Bowl kicker, is the fifth-most accurate kicker in NFL history with 82.0 percent accuracy. He only made two of five field goal attempts before he got hurt this year.

Todd France went 6-for-7 subbing for Akers before he was replaced by Jose Cortez, who kicked extra points in Denver Sunday but didn't have any field goal attempts.

Akers has not practiced kicking off and Cortez is expected to stay around at least a couple weeks to handle them.

The Eagles face the taterskins at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at FedEx Field in Landover, Md.

"I'm definitely feeling good," Akers said. "(Today) is a big day for me to see if I'm sore at all, but right now, I'm encouraged."

Sounds a lot like his quotes before the Oakland game........
Anyone but Reid.

Doesn't it?  Good thing he was okay for that game afterall.
