Pretty non-descriptive stats from NFL Network

But over 7 games last year vs this year:

(2004-2005 : 2005-2006)

Run/Pass 186/240 (44% run)  : 223/209 (52% run)

Harrison: 39 rec/7 TD's : 37/5
Wayne: 34/5 : 37/2
Stokley: 34/3 : 21/0

Then they said last year they were 4-3 at this time (which is where we are now) and this year of course they are 7-0.  Saying bc they ran the ball more (not the only reason, but a big factor)
Pass.  Pass. Pass. PUNT.  No pro bowl WR's.  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  Retarded special teams.  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  "I've got to do a better job."  Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  Running game shines for 3 plays. Pass. Pass. Pass. PUNT.  No adjustments anywhere.  Pass.  Pass. Pass. PUNT.  (repeat)

For the record: I think the Eagles need to run the ball more.  That being said:

No offense to you pino, but these stats are farging useless.  It always pisses me off when commentators say "when so and so runs the ball x number of times, or they run for more than x yards, they win"  They don't separate cause from effect - did they win because they ran, or did they run because they were winning?

I would like to see some stats on running while behind, or running in the first half.  Those might actually be useful.  Maybe I'll do some research after I get some work done today.

An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

hah, no offense taking, just posting what they said.  The reason I said it was non-descriptive was the point you made, some people look at that and say oh, increase the run by 7% and win or, run above 50% of the time and you win.  But we do need to run the ball more. :)  Come to think of it...I wonder what Reid has more confidence in...our running game or a banged up McNabb and TO'ess, rooking starting, McMullin probably in for 3 WR (McCants hopefully?), WR corps.  Probably the latter.

Yes but one thing you have to ralize about Indy is that they are being forced to run more.

Defenses are not allowing Manning and his WRs to beat them. You see a lot of 3 rushing and 8 dropping back into coverage against them now. So instead of forcing the pass they are just running it.

Manning does his "check with me" calls at the LOS. If they have a defense that is giving them the runs he checks to the run and vice versa with the pass.

The Eagles are seeing constant blitzing. And that 9 man front stuff the Broncos were using is not a run-friendly alignment unless it is a draw or a quick-pitch. That many defenders in that close of an area clogs everything up.

The Birds pass game must beat the blitz and force teams to back off and then run it.

The Colts are 7-0 because A)they're defense has playing well and 2)they've played some zesty teams.

Their offense was much more impressive last year, but they lost some of those games because the defense was playing like the Eagles' D currently is.

vs. the Packers last season, Manning opened the game with 22 straight passes.
More Mahe please.
