If I was the head coach of San Diego or any other team playing him, I'm sure I'd try to get people to hit him hard. 

He's walking wounded and this is still football, not the pretty boy QB show-off game that the NFL wants to make it.

I would have no problem with hard hits if done legally.  San Diego is in danger of crossing the line on some of these to intent to injure.
