Interesting. I thought about him too. Especially with Wynn out for awhile. But I think they are banking on him being ready in a few weeks and they like Hood at KR.

Morton would have to do more than just Kr/PR to earn a roster spot though. He's a RB and I think they'd prefer to go with Levens if they bring in another RB.

Plus I read the Jets are interested in bring him back.

Which also made me laugh at the taterskins. I just can't help myself.

The "JetSkins" coup they pulled off and bragged about a few years ago got them nothing.

He will make $3,004,800 in 2003, the total of his signing bonus, base salary and workout bonus. The cap charge is $954,800. Washington was awarded Morton when an arbitrator ruled that the Jets had failed to match the principle terms of his offer sheet. New York selected Iowa safety Derek Pagel with the fifth-round pick acquired from the taterskins. He signed a four-year contract that will pay him $387,000 in 2003, with a $162,000 signing bonus and $225,000 base salary. His cap value is $265,500.

They also paid Coles a hefty SB too. And they also signed Trung Canidate and Matt Bowen that year too as RFA's.

Now you may be asking, "I thought RFAs only cost one pick?"

But those geniuses in DC forgot that they didn't have a 5th round pick to give up for Morton, so they had to make a last minute trade...they dealt away a future 4th (to New England if memory serves) to get that 5th rounder to acquire Morton.  Stellar GMing there.
