Good news for those who can't stand WIP

Stan Hochman's little bit pimping the station was classic....hearing him rip on WIP for talking about "bosoms and backsides"...

Listening to Jody Mac this morning. Mostly he's just talking about the new station so far. Had a lot of local people on. Can't wait to hear AI's comments about the station. I love it. He'll probably do interviews for them all of the time. I also think McNabb might do something on here too...just to stick it to the idiots on WIP.

As usual, you're wrong. Even the HOSTS were talking about WIP this morning. Jody Mac talked about them and said something along the lines of, "If WIP wants to compete with us...that's fine".

McNabb is on with Eskin this afternoon. I don't know if h's calling in or if he's co-hosting. It is Eagles Week..different players on each day with Howeird.

I'm glad he's going on with Eskin because it'll piss off Angelo.

Please. Eskin is the #1 reason I am thrilled there is a new station to listen to. He's an embarrassment to this city.

I didn't say you had to listen. Didn't even suggest it. I just said he'd be on there today. First time that I ever remember him being on tthat station. Might be the first time ever. And the fact that he's on with Eskin instead of Cataldi is funny.

i tuned into this on my way to work this morning...and it was 10 minute retard impersonation bit about how great the 10 minutes old station was.

i got bored fast.

so i put preston and steve back on

then i tuned back to it only to hear phil martelli blabbing on about college basketball, the morning after a great comback win.

i got bored again.

meh...

1 thing drives sports radio in this city, and that is eagles football. nothing else.

Today they basically had sports personalities from the area on pimping the station and Jody Mac explaining what they will be doing on the station that's all. I think he's going to start taking calls tomorrow morning.

it's a sports-talk station. there's your explanation.

i hope it's successful. hopefully they do better than espn radio. which shouldnt be hard. other than mike and mike in the mornings, that station is pretty unlistenable. philly sports live in the afternoon is terrible. and then they hit commercials evet 3 minutes while begging people to call them.

if anyone can do this, it's jody mac. he's a familiar voice, and liked well enough. are there any other local shows? or will it all be pumped in syndicated shows?

The syndicated shows are only supposed to be on for a while until they get established and then they will be all local (down the road, of course). Tony Bruno's show is pretty damn good...although I hate Jim Rome and I can't wait until he's booted.

When I say "explain", I mean that the station was an oldies station for a LONG time. Now its a sports talk radio so they spent the day making sure that everyone tuning in understood what was going on.

I think (as someone mentioned) that Steve Martorano will be hosting in the near future, if he hasn't been hired already. Hochman is also going to be a part of the station now too.
