I repeat:  Action News has the worst sports coverage of the local stations.  Even CN8 and their viewership of 10 people has better coverage.....

I was thinking about that tonight when Papa was all over 'Brian' Moats' sack...how the hell did the station with the worst sports coverage in the city get to be the "official station of the Eagles'?

I know money is the reason, but I liked CBS3 much better. GCobb might be a mushmouth but Beasley Reece and Steve Bucci (when he's not whining) are much better.

News stations are the absolute LAST place you should go for coverage on any sports. I love how when they "break" trade rumors people take it seriously. News stations WILL NOT break any Eagles trade rumors before ESPN, CSN, PFT.com or ESPNews. News stations are the absolute last to get the information. So when you hear Gary Papa or John Clark report the Eagles are interested in _____, they either 1) Got it from another site or 2) Made it up.
THIS SEASON IS OVER AND ANDY'S WORLD IS GRIDL

Offseason needs: 2 DEs, 1 DT, 1 OL, 2 LBs, 1 RB, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 KR.

John Clark had Donald Driver on his list of Eagles WR possibilities.  That must've been news to Green Bay.....  ???

WEST is GOD

Driver is a real long shot, the only reason he would even remotely be considered is because Ferguson is a lot younger, and if the Packers had to trade one they may stick with the youth because they can't win any Superbowl with that awful defense.

Still John Clark probably reads message boards and pulls up random rumors. Remember when he read responses from TO's site as news? News stations are pathetic, and I haven't watched a full episode of Sports Final since Howard left. He was the only one on news stations with any type of inside info.

Heard that one earlier today.  News to a lot of people.

I took a nap between 8-11pm, my time and got up to watch ATH, PTI, and Monday Night Countdown--I should have know better. PTI wasn't too bad but--

ATH--Paige--"The Eagles will lose 4-5 road games this year." Hey Woody, the Eagles HAVEN'T LOST MORE THAN 3 ROAD GAMES since 1999--and that was WITHOUT OWENS.

Cowlishaw--"The Eagles won't make it back to the playoffs."

All in all, this is what I heard--blah, blah, blah.....

I was glad to see the WRs catching basically everything they could get their hands on.

TO should be pissed at himself that he's such a child that they needed to define "unacceptable behavior", since it'd be common sense to most people.

Sarge is correct, that was basicaly a "performance improvement plan" for TO, to eliminate any ambiguity as to what the Eagles will tolerate as acceptable behavior. It's been painfully obvious that Owens has been strategically walking a blurry line to be as much of a pain in the ass and distraction as he could be without legally violating the terms of his contract (although I'd suspect most courts would find his insubordination to Reid and Childress to be a violation). Although the contents of the letter has not been made public,  we can assume the ambiguity has now been removed.

That being said, I thought Banner's interview as a lot more positive than I would've anticipated.

On the other topics of the thread:

ESPN football coverage is horrible...did they have any replays on anything other than TDs and the two disputed calls? And, could we blow more smoke up Hines Wards' ass?

The Eagles young WRs had very encouraging performances. I thought maybe TO was laughing when Greg Lewis' first quarter gaff cost the Eagles an INT TD return...but, that was really the only obvious mistake I saw from the WR group the entire night.

Ryan Moats, Reggie Brown, Mike McMahon, and Wost Manneans gave very good first impressions in their Eagles debuts, among others. It looked like the Eagles were blowing up the middle of the Steelers' offensive line all night long, regardless of which "string" was in the game...did anyone get a good look at Patterson's play?

What did they keep calling Robert Redd? Even on the graphic with the WRs and how many balls they had caught in the past year, they had it like Justin Judd or some shtein like that? LIke they got Justin Jenkins and Robert Redd combined into some other name?

Also, when putting up the Pro-Bowlers from last year, they left off Michael Lewis.  ::)
"Oh, yeah. They'll still boo. They have to. They're born to boo. Just now, they'll only boo with two Os instead of like four." - Larry Andersen

Mike Patrick noted that Bettis averaged 31 yards per carry as a starter.

PhillyGirl

I heard that too...I even said, "Wow, he's like the best RB EVER"

:-D

They called him Jason Jenkins a few times.

Overall, the announcers were their usual horrible selves.  Lots of misinformation being spewed last night.

As bad as the guys in the booth were, Kolber actually did some pretty good interviews, especially with Banner.  She asked him several questions he clearly didn't want to answer.  He looked relieved when they were done.
Anyone but Reid.

Zanshin

Did you see when Banner asked if he could kiss her? ;) (how funny would that have been?)

Kolber doesn't really bother me.  It's the idiots in the booth.

I thought the interview went extremely well and Banner was prepared to answer all her questions. I'm not saying that the interview was set up, but it's possible. Toward the end of the interview, Banner was starting to crack a wry smile.
