Dunno if it's much of an advantage for the Flyers (probably more for the poorer teams getting overpaid players in return), but it looks like the new CBA allows clubs to absorb some of the salary in trades like they do in MLB and the NBA. It also looks like players that get traded then retire before their deal is up (Luongo, etc.) get counted against both teams' caps for the remainder of the deal, so hopefully the bang bros in LA don't hang em up early

impressive win for the bruins tonight....they are my pick to come out of the east this year....sleeper is the panthers...at 50-1 they are a great futures bet

Tim Thomas' rights were traded to the Islanders for a conditional 2nd. His $5M counts against the cap and keeps NY off the floor (even though he won't get paid anyway), and if he ever plays for them or his rights get traded again, NY gives up the 2nd. If he retires, Boston doesn't get anything
