In Vegas they do. AC, not so much.

Yeah, I see a lot of $5 tables out there. But when Friday rolls around the $5 spots disappear (at least in the upper crust joints) until about 4am. One pit boss at The Mirage said 4am-9am is the only time you'll find a $5 table on the weekends. If you go downtown you'll see $5 spots aplenty.

That's the thing I worry about the most, getting into it with some jerkoff who is offended at my style of play. I'm going to get one of those basic strategy cards and use it at the table early in the morning whens its quiet.

Agreed on the craps, Reese. I love when a table is hot and everyone is into it.

I read on a Vegas site, the TripAdvisor forum, that there was an hour and a half roll at The Mirage last Thursday. After the guy sevened out they had to shut the table down for an hour while they paid everyone out. When it was all said and done they paid out over $300k.

I can't wait to shoot in a few weeks again.

black jack is fun and can be an easy way to walk out of the casino with a few bucks in your hand as long as the other people at your table know how to play.

roulette is fun too.  more fun than craps imo because the "dealers" can aim the ball and some of them fall into predictable patterns as to what section of the wheel they'll be throwing for.

blackjack's also probably the easiest way to walk out of the casino without any of your money.

I personally enjoy playing roulette more than craps, but one of my boys was at a table during a good run and he made somethin like 800 bucks and as Reese said, when you get that many people gathering around cheering it's fun as shtein.
But last time I was in AC, I was down like 180 at poker, went over to roulette and got back up to even, then sat back down at poker and finished up 300. I play the outside for a bit then move inside when I have a small profit built up. I hit a few numbers that I had 2 or 3 bucks on, but every time I'd try and gamble a bit more on some numbers and put 5+ dollars, I couldn't hit.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I'm thinking of going to D.C.

I guy a play basketball with went there two years ago and stayed in Virginia on the border and he rode the subway in and said it was a 5 minute ride and a lot cheaper to stay in Virginia than D.C.

Anyone got any recommendations regarding regional eats? Places to see?  (Other than the obvious).

Sounds like you're staying in Arlington, where I lived for five years and where matty lived until a month ago. So yes, we probably have recommendations depending on what you're looking for.

I love it how the "world travel" thread consists of discussions about Las Vegas, Atlantic City & Arlington, VA.

Knowing what you know of the D.C. area....what are some not so obvious places to go and check out? I'll be traveling with my girlfriend so you can leave out cocaine and hookers. Ok, just leave out cocaine.

The Newseum is cool. There's a park at the end of the runways at Reagan National airport where you can see the monuments across the Potomac and watch the planes take off. There are tons of restaurants and bars that are worth checking out in both Arlington and the District, although I'll let you do the research on that. The Cinema Draft House in Arlington shows second run movies and serves food and beer. Carderock and Great Falls parks have the usual outdoor shtein like climbing and camping and shtein.

Take a drive from crystal city, up rt 110 and onto constitution ave. at night after the traffic has cleared out. You'll see monuments on both sides of the water, and a great view of the city.

There. Now never bother me again.
