the yanks approached giambi about sending him down to the minors...of course, giambi said he'd rather work things out in the majors but it's the first step in the yanks getting rid of him, imo.
if he agrees to play for columbus, his salary comes off the major league payroll & it saves the yankees around $37,000 per day in luxury tax.
