I was expecting to laugh out loud or be surprised into a big laugh at some point and it just never happened.

this is a perfect description of the movie...you wait and wait and wait for it to become hilarious and then it ends

I watched The Hangover last night. I laughed pretty consistently throughout, but it might be the most overhyped comedy of all time. I was expecting to laugh out loud or be surprised into a big laugh at some point and it just never happened. I had serious lose-my-shtein, laugh out loud experiences at Wedding Crashers, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up and even farging Bruce Almighty. That never happened here. It was definitely funny, but I think my expectations were way too high going in.

watch it again. I really want you and igy to like this movie..matter of fact i want you two to watch it together, then come back and report its funny rating.

That's the thing. I DID like the movie. I thought it was funny. I just didn't think it was as funny as several other comedies I've seen recently and definitely not as funny as everyone had made it out to be.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Rome

It wasn't as funny as say, "Sophie's Choice," but it was still funny.

its popularity can be attributed to the fact that its about 4 guys getting drunk in las vegas. thats really appealing and comforting to 95% of guys in their 20s and 30s.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Seabiscuit36

it wasnt as funny as Old School which it was billed as, but its still damn good.

just saw Avatar.

nothing original at all..you know the story the minute it starts.

but it's pretty remarkable nonetheless, and I don't begrudge Cameron the ten bucks I paid

Agreed. The story is predictable and the moral is trite...but the visuals are pretty astounding.

Diomedes

it's downright gorgeous anytime the screen shows the forest world, a big accomplishment I think

The only way it could have been more trite was if guys in turbans flew the missle ship into the tree.

Looked good though.

wasnt the forest fake tho?...i just dont get how something fake can look good...maybe i just dont understand it....but id much rather watch the thin red line or days of heaven for beautiful cinematography and landscapes that are real

As long as it's visually interesting, and the fakeness doesn't distract from the plot, it's not too big of a deal to me.

The BIGSTUD

District 9:

I really liked it. I was expecting something a lot different, so maybe I liked it more than I normally would have. Some parts felt far-fetched and a little ridiculous, but it is hard to complain when the entire premise is based on aliens in the first place. It had an interesting plot compared to other alien movies, and had some good action as well. Although the parts with the action were where I felt the movie felt a little over the top. Still entertaining though. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.
