Yes, but even so, I'm sure there will be at least one or two negative reviews before next weekend.  It's still relatively early in the reviewing process.

Plus the majority of the population hasn't even had a chance to see it yet. It will dip below 100% when the cranky anti-fanboy curmudgeons get a look at it.

Gone Baby Gone 3/5 - first hour was better than the last. Too many twists and turns, saw the ending coming a mile away.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I only wish I could find the time to dump the wife and young'uns and catch TDK at the IMAX downtown.  As it stands, I already bought my tickets to see it next Friday.

And check out some of the reviews.  They aren't just good, they're glowing.  Christ, comparing it to some of the classic crime dramas (although I have to say I though The Departed sucked).  Pretty amazing, particularly when you consider he also made Memento, which I loved.  Hopefully expectations aren't too high.

ice grillin you

an average crime drama is better than a great comic book movie...im sure its a fine film but its not better or worse than the other good superhero movies like the last batman or the first spiderman...and theres just no chance its as good as a chinatown la confidential or seven

and before you fanboys cry hater im seeing it friday as well
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Dude, LA Confidential and (Jesus farging Christ) especially Seven, don't hold a farging candle to Chinatown.  It's not even close.  If TDK were to be as good as Chinatown it would be a farging coup.  Even my expectations are not that high.
Anyone but Reid.

youre old

and youre the one that brought up it being compared to classic crime dramas not me

im going to reserve judgment till i see it (i loved the departed) and i worry that some reviewers piggy back some praise off of each other (ive heard more than one call it a masterpiece and compare it to godfather II)....but having read some of the reviews they do mention that the movie actually goes beyond the superhero film range in terms of quality.
Marge: I have someone who can help you!
Homer: Is it BATMAN!!??
Marge: No hes a scientist
Homer: Batman is a scientist.
Marge: Its not BATMAN!

MadMarchHare

I thought the Godfather II comparison was more about a sequel equaling/exceeding the first film.

And I'm 37.  I'm not old.

Rome

Finally got around to seeing Wall-E tonight.  I liked it a lot.  It was a bit heavy handed with the indictments on consumerism, reliance on technology, and environmental degradation, but the adventure portion of the story was great and so was the relationship between Wall-E & Eve.

4/5

Diomedes

how could it be heavy handed in it's depiction of consumerism given that it's a Pixar joint?

what I mean is, couldn't it also be seen as tongue-in-cheek?  Pixar/Disney is afterall the height of cross marketing consumerist bonanza, right?
