Ironically, Universal now needs to actually save the clock tower.

I was subjected to Prince Caspian today.  Boring.  Not as boring as Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, but close.

Sweeney Todd.  Much better than I expected and I expected it to be done quite well.  Johnny Depp nailed the role perfectly.  I've seen the live musical and I thought Tim Burton did a great job of converting the play to film while keeping it in line with it's theatrical background.  Even if you're not a fan of musicals, the story itself is worth watching.

5/5

I also was forced to go see it today for my kid's birthday.  Awful, awful, stupid, violent, horrible acting, no hot chicks, computer generated lion, trees that move... good God.

-10 billion out of five.

Did it really suck that bad?  I thought they did a pretty damn good job with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and am looking forward to Caspian as well.  Granted, of all the Narnia books, LWW was the best but Caspian was pretty good too from what I remember.  Of course, I haven't read it in probably 20 years so who knows...

American Gangster - pretty good, some good acting performances of course.  Josh Brolin really stuck out to me as doing a good job.  overall it was a bit too long though.  i remember reading criticisms when it came out that Denzel and Crowe weren't on screen together enough, but i don't think you could've forced them together if the story didn't dictate it.  i'm not sure how close to the actual story the movie is, but the fact that Crowe's character arrested Lucas, and then prosecuted him, and then eventually defended him is pretty crazy.

Yeah it is.  And you know that Lucas broke him off with a serious chunk of change or something.

Yeah I thought the movie was a little too long and I really didn't get why he would defend him after all that. Maybe should have explained that better.

That's why I'm thinking he hooked him up with something.  I know the gov't seized all of Lucas' stuff but he was a smart cat and I'm sure he had a few nuggets stored some place safe.
