perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

You should also get on a pile of live grenaids.

Just finished Juno and I want to talk about it for two reasons:
1. I don't want to talk about or think about the Flyers. Ever.
2. I liked it. But didn't like it nearly as much as everyone else OR as much as I expected to.

A lot of the dialog was sort of terrible. The first 15 minutes or so were almost unbearable to listen to. It got MUCH better as it went on, but that isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. Ellen Page, while cute and good at acting like a dumbass teenager, had no business getting an Oscar nomination. The soundtrack was atrocious.

Having said all of that, I really liked the parents and thought that the adopting couple were played and written perfectly. And as the movie went on Juno's character got more and more lovable/tolerable. Michael Cera was perfect in the uberdork role. Jason Bateman's frustration and idiocy was perfect, etc etc.

I guess maybe I just can't stand script writers trying to write the way teenagers talk. Or maybe I just don't like the way teenagers talk and want them to die, but would rather blame it on script writers for making it even worse than it is in real life...

Anyway, I'm giving it a 4/5. It was a really good movie. I just expected to completely love it and instead only liked it a lot.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

I watched "Before the Devil Knows Your Dead" a couple of days ago. Stars Marissa Tomei (topless a lot in the flick),  Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Ethan Hawk.

I had never heard of it before, but I really liked it. It was done by the same guy who did Dog Day Afternoon, and it's the same kind of movie... I would say 4/5

+1 for Tomei's boobs...-1 for Hoffmans ass.

Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

Does Tomei even have much in the way of cans?

Zanshin

Well, that web search didn't take long.  Not as bad as I thought they'd be.

From the movie title I thought it would be some 80's or 90's horror flick in which case I was in. But it turned out to be this:
QuotePhilip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney, and Marisa Tomei star in director Sidney Lumet's thriller concerning two brothers who hatch a plan to rob their parent's jewelry store. When the job goes awry, the entire family is set on a collision course with tragedy. Andy (Hoffman) is an overextended broker in desperate need of some cash. His brother Hank (Hawke) isn't much better off, so when Andy hatches a plan to rob their parent's modest jewelry store it seems like a foolproof way to make a quick buck. But Andy's trophy wife Gina (Tomei) is secretly sleeping with libidinous younger brother Hank, and when the robbery proves a complete disaster it isn't long before loyalties start to shift. Now Andy and Hank's father Charles (Finney) is determined to make the unidentified robbers pay for their crime. What's a father to do when he discovers that the ones he loves most become are his worst enemies? ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
