Going to see a movie soon, its been awhile.

My three choices are Juno, Charlie Wilson's War and Atonement. Any suggestions? I want to go see No Country...but the lady doesn't want to see it

Charlie Wilson's War was excellent, though not as good as No Country For Old Men. And CWW has some boobings in it.

I've gotta choice between seeing Cloverfield again or seeing Juno.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Don't be an idiot. See Juno. Cloverfield was good, but not good enough to pass up another good movie.

Good point.

Plus I don't think Juno's going to be in theaters around here much longer...it only has 4 times all day today, whereas Cloverfield has like 12. I can always go see it again in a few weeks if I really want to.

Sicko - not really sure if it warrants a rating since it was a documentary. Like most of Moore's stuff you have to be skeptical but it was pretty eye opening.

Like most of Moore's stuff, if you express a like for it then you are a commie pinko fag, and if you express a dislike for it then you are a nazi.

He's an extremist idiot. Entertaining, but not exactly impartial.

I watched 'From Dusk Til Dawn' last night on Cinemax.  Whenever I catch that movie on TV, I can't turn the channel.  It's one of my '5 Guilty Pleasure' movies.

Guilty pleasure movies = you know they are horrible movies, but you can't help yourself from watching. Like midget porn, you love 'em despite yourself.

Other four, because I know you care:

Rock Star
Bully
Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead
Smokey and the Bandit (which I also watched last night)

The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

Saw There Will Be Blood tonight and thought it was fantastic.  It should be a close race between it and No Country for best picture.  DDLewis was great, as I'm sure you've all heard.

Juno kind of disappointed me to be honest. I think mainly because of all the hype it's been getting. It was definitely funny, and laugh out loud....but that's it. It didn't have that one scene that really makes the theater bust out laughing for a long period of time ala the dinner table scene in Wedding Crashers or most of Superbad. Lots of smaller, smartass comment haha that was funny scenes though. Overall pretty good, just didn't live up to the extreme amounts of hype to me.

that's your fault for expecting that...i don't think anybody with a brain expected Wedding Crashers or Superbad type humor or laughs to come out of that movie.

from the first preview i expected a romantic comedy that i would actually laugh at and wouldn't hate...which is actually what it was

anybody with a brain

key words

no country for old men - excellent movie...one of the better shot movies in terms of camera angles and cinematography in a while....even tho im not a huge fan of a lot of their movies individually the coen brothers are really great filmakers who dont always make the greatest films...everything said about bardem is true in this movie he gave an incredible performance...not sure how tommy lee jones got nominated tho...he was fine but not even close to oscar worthy...

my favorite part of the picture was how tense it was....the edge of your seat suspension that coen brothers were able to build in many of the individual scenes was awesome...it was what a lot of horror movies want to be but never are...my least favorite part was the awful cgi deer that josh brolin shoots at in the beginning...it was lazy incredibly fake and not coen brothers at all to do that...

in the end no country is another great movie in a what turned out to be the best year for movies in a long time and because of that i cant say it was the best as off the top of my head michael clayton the devil knows youre dead and superbad are all better and i havent seen juno...into the wild...there will be blood or the savages yet

8/10
