Rome

I worked out of the office at home this morning and rather than work I watched Goldfinger on Spike TV.

Still the best Bond movie ever even though You Only Live Twice is still my favorite.  I'm seriously considering getting the Bond Box Set, although the last three Moore movies & both Dalton movies are absolute garbage.

I remember when James Bond died to me.  Went to all the movies on opening day for years, and Pierce Brosnan was finally getting his shot at Bond.  The World Isn't Enough.  The opening scene on the mountaintop, guns his way out, starts the single prop, gets dragged out in a fist fight,  plane falls off the mountain, he jumps, skydives into a running airplane and pulls it out of the dive to DUH-DUH-DUHDUH.....

A guy in the back of the theater screams at the top of his voice,"Oh come on!".  And that was the end of that.  When a stunt is so ridiculous that a Bond geek on opening night can suspend disbelief, it's over.  Haven't seen a Bond in the theater since.

Anyone but Reid.

That would be GoldenEye, not The World Is Not Enough, and that movie was far and beyond the best of the Brosnan Bond movies.

Not to mention it had probably the most kickass video game ever attached to it.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Rome

I liked Tomorrow Never Dies because Michelle Yeoh was in it.   The other three with Brosnan were decent enough - nothing to write home about, though.

What's been the general consensus on upcoming Cloverfield? Is Cloverfield a new word for Godzilla? I want to watch it regardless. Things that look end-of-the-worldish seem to catch my attention.

That shtein is brutal as hell, I watched it a few years back.  Eye opening is the first thing that comes to mind.

"I am Legend" 7.5/10

"Day Zero" Very interesting concept for a movie, a military draft in today's world.  Chris Klein always a douche bag in whatever movie he is in.  Elijah Wood plays a bitch, imagine that.  7/10

Yeah I'd do her...but I wasn't a big fan of the villain/story line. It was okay...but...meh.

No one even knew they were filming the movie until the trailer was released with Transformers over the summer.  They've been so tight lipped, expectations are non-existent.  From what little info has been released, the movie is supposed to be found video from a home cam taken by people having a good-bye party for a friend in Manhattan when all hell breaks loose.  That's all I've been able to find out.

I think someone posted the trailer to it here......might have been igy.  The movie looks pretty decent though and has the "Blair Witch Affect" with it being shown like a home movie.

the first half of the trailer looked pretty cool then it turned into your run of the mill action trailer...reminded me a lot of godzilla

There Will Be Blood- Went in with too high expectations since the critics built it up into the greatest movie of the year. While it wasn't that, it was still pretty good. Predictably, Daniel Day-Lewis is outrageous, undoubtedly the best performance of the year.  But things just seemed a little slow. I'm a huge fan of PT Anderson and went in hoping this would be better than Magnolia and Boogie Nights. It wasn't, but overall, a really good movie.

3.5/5
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
