Spiderman 3 made $148 million, a weekend record. Next best movie made just over $5 mil.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Hey, that's great!  They're almost halfway to breaking even.
Anyone but Reid.

I'm curious about your thoughts on Jamie Fox in Ray.

reparations for 200 years of slavery... or something

Jamie Foxx was way better in "Collateral" - nominated jokingly for a Supporting Role.

Speaking of which, "Dreamgirls" sucked.  The music was good, but it (predictably) reeked of  play-to-movie.  The characters were all ridiculously underdeveloped, except maybe Murphy's Jimmy Thunder Early... but the role was basically written for him and the Golden Globe win and Oscar buzz was basically undeserved.

Again, the music was damn good.  The soundtrack would be worth listening to.  But don't bother watching the movie unless you like plots thinner than Nicole Richie.  2 hours of meh.

2/5 when factoring in high expectations... probably more like a 3/5 in general

Spiderman 3:

***possible spoilers***

It had some good parts, and some really bad parts.  The fighting scenes and action were really good, but a lot of the other stuff was really boring and unnecessary.  The black-suited PP in the jazz club was really lame and there was too much revolved around Mary Jane in general.  Franco was really good as Harry Osborne.

Basically, you'd hope the soft gay shtein would be trumped by the action and cool shtein.  In this one, I don't think you can say that.

Exactly how I felt.  It was OK to good.  The fight scenes were great, and I thought they nailed bringing Venom to the movie screen... but the movie could and should have been about 15-20 minutes shorter if they'd cut out all the sappy, unnecessary stuff.  It also got kinda weird at a point... around the Jazz club scene you're talking about.

Another thing that got me... which started in SM2... is that there's entirely too many times he's actually in the suit without his mask on.  How many motherfargers have to see his face?

I thought it was enjoyable... just could have been better.

3-3.5 out of 5.

It's funny. I saw this yesterday and when he was standing on the building with his mask off for the Spider-Man Day or whatever I kept thinking he is terrible at having a "Secret Identity" because he keeps pulling his mask off in broad daylight.

The action and effects were good, the jazz club thing and the weird pelvis gyrations and finger pointing while "infected" by the Venom symbiote were damn strange. None of that made much sense.

I'm curious about your thoughts on Jamie Fox in Ray.

jamie foxx was very good in ray and he looked like ray charles

helen mirren looked just like the queen in the queen but didnt act so much as she just was

joaquin pheonix was excellent in walk the line and didnt look like johnny cash

What Jamie Foxx did in Ray was certainly impressive, but I thought Daniel Day Lewis got jobbed for best actor.

i think youre thinking of ddl in gangs of new york which wasnt the same year as ray...it was adrian brody stuffing his tongue down halle berrys throat for the piano

of the nominees jami foxx deserved it his year...but as usual there were better non nominated performances

Wrong.  Leonardo DiCaprio was farging brilliant in "The Aviator".  I say this despite the fact he annoys me to no end.
