I think Clint Eastwood was seriously contemplating punching Ellen in the face during the whole "let's get a picture together" skit but decided against it at the last minute.

Too bad.

The little "comedic" interludes by Ellen were very weak and a complete waste of time.  What I can't understand is how the  producers and director of the telecast ever had any delusion about completing the show in 2 1/2 hours.

it was actually a nice little movie but probably wasnt in the ten best of the year much less a best pic winner

arkin was very good and i have no problem with his nomination but he was at most third best in that category

SunMo

i watched Raging Bull over the weekend, and at one point actually got angry that Scorsese didn't get best director for it.

who won it that year?
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

ordinary people won best pic and im pretty sure redford won best director for it

i actually think raging bull as a movie is overrated...unbelievable acting performances but as a movie it was drawn out and boring to me

I can't imagine in what universe anyone actually believed "Little Miss Sunshine" had a shot in hell to win Best Picture.  Arkin winning was the only real surprise of the night, but after seeing Eddie Murphy on the red carpet and in his seat with a look like he truly believed he was going to win... I was actually really glad he didn't.

BTW I agree that Little Miss Sunshine should not have won best picture, but its nomination and Arkin's win were very well deserved.

It's called 300. I don't know what the title has to do with the movie.

It's about these 300 Greek dudes

It just further proves my belief that most people are stupid.

I'm just glad "Babel" didn't win.  I've yet to actually talk to someone that saw it and actually enjoyed it, whereas "The Departed" was an excellent piece of filmmaking that people actually enjoyed.

Rome

I was surprised when Peter O'Toole didn't win.

When Forest Whitaker won, the first thing I thought of was "Fast Times At Ridgemont High."  Three actors (Whitaker, Sean Penn & Nick Cage) from that movie have now won Best Actor awards.

Astounding.
