i also saw Wordplay a few weeks ago.  it's a documentary about the history of crossword puzzles.  it's pretty cool if you're a crossword puzzle nerd, which i unfortunately am.

I read somewhere that "Wordplay" is the only real threat to Al Gore winning an Oscar.

Oh, and I picked up "Running with Scissors" last night.  I expect I'll understand where the bad reviews came from, but I probably will enjoy it more than I expect.  Then again, that means I'm truly expecting to enjoy it, so I'll probably be just as disappointed as most reviewers.

Running With Scissors sucked.

Way too chaotic to work on screen.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Me too.

Have you ever noticed that crossword puzzles in newspapers get more difficult as the week progresses?

Strange.

i never really knew that either.

i don't really do the sudokus that often, but i know they get progressively harder from monday-friday, but i never really felt the crossword puzzles were like that.  i guess it could depend on which ones you do.  i don't do the new york times that often.

ice grillin you

ive noticed this too. i have the crossword/soduko out during some down time before classes and while waiting for the subway. im able to do generally all of the sudokus, but the crosswords i do less and less off as the week progresses. i am getting better, but alas, i am an idiot.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

It means you're a stud.

Or it means Phatty's got a girlfriend who's still a senior in high school and her overly-protective Catholic parents don't let her out during the week. Making Saturdays the only day Phatty gets enough time to pound cooch. Friday nights if he/she aint workin. :-* Why else you think he hasn't seen a movie in over a month? Saturays been occupied, no time for movies.

I've been getting in the habit of watching really bad movies on TV lately, and yet sitting through them to the end. The movies are so bad that I can't even remember the titles of them, what they were about, and therefore have no way to rate them.

The American Pie series has been on USA the last couple nights though...I can't decide if I'm sick of them all or not. I'm pretty sure I am.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Caught The Ice Harvest last night.  Easily the feel-good movie of the year.  I kid, I kid.   In general, I thought it was okay.  Relatively short running time (1:30), and it kept me interested for the most part.

It felt a little derivative to me, and outside of the main character, there wasn't a ton of depth.  That said, I've found far worse ways to spend and hour and a half, and I tend to like Cusack movies.

3/5

I am a huge fan of Cusack movies and also black comedy, and I absolutely abhorred "The Ice Harvest".

I did see it in the theater, though, so... that's part of the problem.

In other news, BB online is shipping me "The Departed" right now.  Good stuff.
