i know he was in the running, but i think a few things factored in the decision not to use him.  one being that WB didn't want to confuse storylines, since Smallville take tremendous liberties with the entire myth.  i also think that Welling was afraid of being type-cast.

I had heard that before but now Superman has too many faces. I caught Smallville lastnight, probably the first time in almost a year. I'm a little more excited for the Xmen-3 flick.

I was kind of surprised to see this casting:

QuoteKelsey Grammer    ....    Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast

i got back into Smallville this season because they are focusing more on the Superman part of it instead of the teen angst/love story angle.

I hear ya on that, the teen sappy love shtein was making me sick. Found out lastnight Mr. Kent was dead and Lionel Luther is now the Governor. Even though the storyline changes the plot of every episode is pretty much the same. Lana, drama, kryponite, new enemy.

I think that's a great casting call.  After all, Beast is nothing more than a really hairy Frasier Crane.
Anyone but Reid.

Oh, no doubt.  I just thought he had enough money and was too high-falutin' to do a movie like this.

Then again...

Just saw Se7en. Pretty good. Not a huge action/thriller movie fan, but I loved the twist of having Kevin Spacey as the villian. Had no clue it was coming. I did know right after Morgan Freemans reaction that it was Paltrows head in the box. They call me Sherlock Jr.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

ha. i hate paying for things, so all the great movies that came out before i could start seeing them in the theaters (keep in mind i was about 10 when this movie originally came out) i have to rent or fall ass backwards into. since again im cheap, i prefer falling ass backwards into them. this was one of those situations. a buddy down the hall had it.
