i enjoyed the blair witch project.  definitely scarier than 99% of "horror" movies that come out these days.

that's not saying much

it was definitely an original concept and i didn't hate it.  and i'm sure that Cloverfield won't be terrible either, but just thinking about trying to watch an entire movie made from the vantage point of a hand held video camera gives me a headache

being in the top 1% of anything is good.  it's science.

Superbad 3.5/5 - Very funny
Simpsons movie 3/5 - First 30 minutes was great, rest of the movie was a little boring
Planet Terror 2.5/5 - not bad
Man of the Year 2/5 - could have been better
Stardust 1/5 - only caught 10 minutes cause the g/f was watching it, thought it sucked, she thought the same.

I can't believe that none of you no taste clowns enjoyed Blair Witch. I know that my disbelief is easily suspended, but come on.  That was some scary shtein.

It was pretty decent.  I watched it after their cover was blown and it was exposed for being toally fake and I still kept thinking in my mind while watching it that it actually happened.  It was original and very realistic.  I appreciate the creativity.

Blair Witch 2 was effing dumb though even though I did like the basic concept of the movie.  And that one chick's boobies.

Speaking of horror movies. Watching the original psycho right now. farg the scene where Norman is talking to Jamie Lee Curtis's Mom before she goes up to her room is a great piece of film making.

I mean not scary per say but intense. You just know she's going to get it.

...and the kill scene is so cliche now but it is so well done and you don't really see anything of the act. I think that makes it worse because your imagination makes up the rest. Her cold staring eye from the bathroom floor at the end of the scene. Chilling!

Trivia question for you.  What did they use for blood in the bathroom scene?

Hershey's syrup, nice and slimy, fits the bill in black and white

The only reason that scene is cliche is because every movie after it was made tried desperately to remake it. It was a first and it is a classic. Psycho is amazing.

Saw Stardust last night.  Not Gaiman's best work (in the same vein as Princess Bride, but not as clever).  Not horrible, and DeNiro as the gay pirate was a little off.

But the 7 brothers were a great running joke throughout the whole movie.  Maybe 3/5.
