Finally got around to watching Syriana after it sat on my Tivo for a month and a half. Very hard to follow at first but as the movie goes on and I got a feeling of who everyone is and where they were going I was on board. Probably would be a better movie the 2nd time around. The movies does try very hard to make a political statement so I had to take it with a grain of salt. Doesn't matter if I agree with said statement or not movies based on a non-fiction work with adjusted details are a study in and of themselves. Only way to know what the original author was trying to say behind the movie would be to read his book which actually doesn't look like a bad idea. It's on my list. The point the movie was making was very one sided in its view and that usually isn't the whole truth of the matter.

3 out of 5 stars.

I'd compare this movie to Porkies but that is a 5 out of 5!!

theres a great piece in this weeks entertainment about porkies and the era of early to mid 80's mindless comedies

i watched the groomsmen the other day....typical ed burns movie...very well written and i liked the stories a lot...its basically a chick flick guys style....def something you can watch while she throws you some hole...

the only problem was is contains one of the worst ensemble casts ive seen....the acting is just not good

jay mohr
ed burns
donal louge
matthew lillard
john leguizamo
brittney murphy

even with that i still recommend it

6.5/10

well, in one respect, it is overrated because people say it's a great movie, when really its a great half a movie

It's a lot like Scarface in that regard.

ice grillin you

scarface is overrated overall

i dont think its half good and half bad

its a very good movie all the way thru imo

its just not the classic that everyone makes it out to be

Anyway...

The first half of Scarface is spectacular.  The second half kinda dissolves into a mess and the ending is idiotic.  DePalma didn't have the balls to have the "bad guy" come out on top, so instead, he went the trite "cautionary tale" route.

Lame.

Montana should have wiped everyone out, farged his sister, and ruled his empire with an iron fist.

Holla.

Scarface is no Black Hawk Down, thats for sure.

On a sidenote Scarface was the first DVD i bought.  You care.

Okay bro.  This is like the third time you've waxed on about something in that piece of shtein rag, and it's time you stopped.  It's advertisement, not reporting.  It's copy, not writing.  It's shtein.  The fact that you read this is troubling enough, but what's worse is you openly broadcast that you read it.  Have some self respect and stop reading brainrot, or at least don't crow about your dirty tabloid habit.  Jesus farg, man.

It warms my heart to know that two ridiculous bleeding hearts can despise each other this much. Why discriminate?
