good boys - your garden variety 00s sex comedy except the protagonists are like 11. they curse and talk about cum and its funny, i guess. i dont know maybe im old. some parts were legit funny but the story couldnt have been more pointless and the appeal of the movie was seeing the kid from the room say Hoyda. 2/5

the last black man in san francisco - a beautiful moving movie that is also painfully slow and about an entitled poor dude who thinks he can just move into an (awesome) house that is not his. the overall themes -- family, your place in the world -- resonate and rise above the squatting. reading the story about how this got made was remarkable. give these guys more chances to tell stories. 3.5/5

joker - wakeem phoenix was out of control. now that thats out of the way this was a problematic picture. this dude straight up murders like six people. maybe im forgetting some. and we're supposed to root for him? the movie is insanely sympathetic to arthur fleck. the whole thing is an excuse machine for a violent psycho who shouldnt be a part of polite society. i love batman. its the only comic book i like. but i did not need an origin story of his most popular villain. in this universe, are we now to root for joker to kill bruce wayne? i hope every maga incel dork who jerked off to this dies in a fire. also robert de niro needs to retire he cannot act anymore. 1/5
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

MAGA Batman is either like George Zimmerman for standing his ground or those dumbfarg dark knight detectives that were the killing actual people catalyst for the joker from don't farg with cats.

toy story 4 - they keep crushing these movies. this has to be the last one considering where it ended, and if this is it, then just a flawless way to go out. 4/5

jay and silent bob reboot - aggressively unfunny and painful to watch. for the most part i have fond 90s memories of kevin smith but my god this was one of the worst things ive ever seen. lazy, mailed in cameos. his talentless daughter. beyond amateur acting. nonsensical story. it was a big kevin smith love letter to kevin smith and now i wish he died. i watched this on a 123movies stream so he didnt even get my $2 redbox rental, thats my victory. 0/5

midsommar - im not a horror guy but this was functionally one of the weirdest movies ive ever seen. sweedish cults, breakups, hallucinations, its got it all. its purposely very slow and takes time to get to the mayhem that you know is there. really well directed and shot but the script was meh and the acting was next level bad. 2/5

little women - if todd phillips had a soul and wasnt such a toxic maga men, he would forfeit his oscar nom and give it to greta gerwig. this movie had no business being this good. its the umpteenth adaptation of a novel that didnt need to be dissected again. but she did. and she crushed it. i might also be in love with emma watson? i choked up a few times, but the rest of the theater was balling. heard some ugly sobbing. sourshoes ronan might be billed as the star but dont second guess it, this is greta gerwig's movie world now. 4.5/5

the lighthouse - wilem dafoe once again gives an unhinged performance that leaves you wondering if hes actually this insane. this movie will farg with your mind. its 2 dudes on a small island slowly going mad inside a lighthouse. you will not watch this and be in a good headspace after. its an ok movie but if you like being farged with, go see it. 2.5/5

1917 - think dunkirk but better and with more emotional weight. roger deakins and sam mendes pulled this off and pulled it off well and should both got trophies for it. its shot (to look like) one long take and its just a remarkable piece of filmmaking. this isnt parasite or uncut gems but its a technical marvel that is beyond impressive. the amount of work and effort that went into making this is insane. see it on a big screen or dont see it at all. 4/5

bombshell - i said it before and ill say it again. i dont care that roger ailes was harassing endless women at fox. they all knew what they were getting into when they went to work there. you work for the devil, you get the devil. go cry about it somewhere else, honey. the movie didnt exactly let any of these bimbos off the hook but it was sympathetic to them when there was no reason to be. farg fox, farg trump and farg these rich white women. 2/5

i haven't disliked a movie as much as i disliked midsommar in quite a while.

ford vs ferrari - average boomer dad movie. damon and bale get to flex and act like movie stars but theres not really much to it unless youre a maga dude who loves cars and watching like cars go in circles or something. 2/5

jojo rabbit - really sweet enjoyable flick with a killer taika wattiti performance as hitler. nothing here really screamed oscar but its a good watch and a good message that will make you think of how awful trump is. 3.5/5

thus ends the oscar watch. my rankings which matter

He's right to a degree though...it's documentary material; not Hollywood hype bullshtein

I had high hopes for Motherless Brooklyn but it fell short.

The cast is pretty strong with a lot of known names. Even has Bunny Colvin and Omar in it. But the pace is way too slow.

Meh

It was a great movie.  The acting was amazing.  The story was heart-breaking yet life-affirming.

It was terrific.  If you choose not to see it, that's fine.  I recommend it highly.

1917

i saw it...it was basically if saving private ryan and the revenant had a baby...it was technically well done but there was nothing new...it was basically two hours of mendes flexin...its like he saw the revenant and said thats cool i wanna do that too....dont get me the wrong the tracking shots and such were really well done but again seen it before so it made it in your face to much...its like oooooh whats the next cool thing i can do...the story itself has been done a trillion times before and in much better ways

6/10
