I haven't read any of the Dragon Tattoo books but saw the movie yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Engrossing story, well acted, well directed, very intense at times, Trent Reznor is a genius at creating mood with music. Solid solid movie all around.

Oh, and I forgot that I watched Hall Pass. What a farging stupid ass movie although it did have a couple of things that I laughed pretty hard at. Mostly farging awful though.

moneyball---i never thought it would be that exciting to relive the john mabry/jeremy giambi trade.

8.5/10
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Pitt was at his best in the movie when he was working the phones to make trades. Giambi was such a jackass.

pitt was actually borderline terrific.

jonah hill might have been better which is tough for me to say cause i didnt even like him in superbad.

a lot of the baseball things were wrong...like how dark it was in the a's stadium during the game. or the fact they never mentioned zito, hudson and mulder were really good and might have played a big part in the a's winning games.

but whatever. its a movie.

I've read the first two and they were fun romps that didn't make me feel like I was slumming it even though I was.  Nice to hear that the American version of the movie accomplishes the same.  I watch maybe five movies a year total, but I reckon this will be one of them sooner or later.

i know i'm like 10 years late but i watched both kill bills for the first time yesterday. fun flicks.

then it got me in the kung fu mood so we watched some real kung fu this morning at like 6 am. bruce lee was the man.

I've got an 8 movie box set of Bruce Lee flicks on VHS that I bought a good 15 or so years ago.  I haven't watched it in at least 10 years, or however long its been since I switched to dvd.  Every time I have a yard sale, I set it out to be sold and then whenever someone shows interest in buying it I always pull it back, tell them it was set on the table by accident and yell at squaw for trying to get rid of my stuff.  It's fun to me.

Pitts extremely underrated as an actor. People overlook how good he is because he's such a pretty boy. Jonah Hill was unbelievable in his role as the nerdy economics major from Stanford.

Jonah Hill played Paul DePodesta but DePodesta didn't want his name in the movie (sort of):

QuoteWhen the movie Moneyball was being adapted from the book, DePodesta did not approve of the way that his character was being portrayed. The role was previously going to be given DePodesta's name and to be played by Demetri Martin, but DePodesta did not want his name or likeness to be used in the movie; instead the character of "Peter Brand" was created as a composite of Beane's deputies in Oakland, as the character is not an accurate representation of any specific real-life people.[4] However, Moneyball's director Bennett Miller has credited DePodesta for being generous and helpful in the making of the film. Brand was played by Jonah Hill.

Caught the movie "Warrior" today and highly recommend it if you havent seen it yet.

For all you MMA fans and even if youre not....its a must watch. Everything from the acting, the music, the drama behind it and the fight scenes were performed very well. Dont be surprised if you get a little choked up (no pun intended) as well.

9/10

Totally agree.  Pitt is a very good actor.  One of my favorite Pitt movies is The Devils Own with Harrison Ford where he plays an I.R.A. terrorist.

I'm just pissed off at him for apparently ruining the World War Z movie since it's his studio and movie

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

It doesn't take a lot to ruin World War Z.  shtein is overrated.
