The Descendants looks great, but I farging HATED Sideways. Boring old man drivel. As such there is literally no way for me to put any stock in IGY's review. Of course, that's generally the case for all movies, but still.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

QuoteBruce Wayne is "not in a great state" in 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

The latest instalment of the Batman franchise - which features Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader and his alter ego Bruce - hits cinemas next year and director Christopher Nolan has revealed the new movie is set some time after 2008's 'The Dark Knight'. He said: "It's really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne's story. We left him in a very precarious place. Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after 'The Dark Knight'. So he's an older Bruce Wayne; he's not in a great state."

In the movie, Tom Hardy plays new villain Bane, and the director has promised the character's introduction will challenge Batman in new ways.

He told the new issue of Empire magazine: "With Bane, we're looking to give Batman a challenge he hasn't had before. With our choice of villain and with our choice of story we're testing Batman both physically as well as mentally."

Tom describes his character as "brutal and nasty" who favours "carnage" when he fights.

He explained: "He's brutal. Brutal. He's a big dude who's incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It's not about fighting. It's about carnage. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it's nasty. Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. He is a terrorist in mentality as well as brutal action."

'The Dark Knight Rises' is out in cinemas on July 20, 2012.

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

I've enjoyed the new Batman movies, and I'm sure this one will follow the trend, but jumping 8 years seems limiting from a franchise perspective.

There is no attempt to franchise this.  Nolan has been very forthright about this being the last Batman movie in his universe.
He doesn't want anyone to be able to continue on his vision.  If they make another Batman, it'll be a reboot.  It being 8 years in the future with a middle aged Batman does raise the interesting possibility of this following the Broken Bat quite closely, or a hybrid of that and Return of the Dark Knight.  I find it interesting that a guy like Nolan who likes to play it close to the vest felt it necessary to spill this nugget.

Speaking of Batman, Batman Year One is now available (animated).  Quite good, although nothing in it that wasn't in the graphic novel.  Rumor has it that the Return of the Dark Knight is next in line for animation.

Nolan is done with Batman after this.  He's made that crystal clear and has been emphatic about it since The Dark Knight Rises was announced.

Thanks for the update igy.  Looking forward to seeing it.  Maybe this weekend.  shtein load of filming stories for you.  Most of the Kauai scenes were filmed at Hanalei where we set up camp for about 4 Memorial Day weekends in a row.  We have some friends that own a beach house in the middle of Hanalei Bay and it was a wild weekend of surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and drinking. When we there in 2010 we stayed on the property where they filmed The Descendants.  We missed them by two weeks.
