Igby Goes down - We were forced to watch this in my film class. It's a dark comedy about a dysfunctional family. Family reminded me a bit of the one in Arrested Development. Very well known cast (Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Susan Sarandon, Claire Danes, Amanda Peete, Home Alone kids brother, Jim Gaffigan). Wasn't bad.

lol.....the ewoks are so awful

They are, and if I was older than 9 or 10 when the movie came out, I probably would have hated them.  But they are basically the one downer in the entire trilogy and they still aren't anywhere near as awful as Jar Jar Binks.

Rome

there's a lot to hate about return to the jedi because it was corny and awful all around.

and other than the scene where anakin gets burned in the lava and sam jackson fighting the emperor, there's not a single thing to like about the three prequels.

Eagles_Legendz

I thought the Sam Jackson scene was over the top to be honest.

I liked the last 40 minutes of III a lot and enjoyed the last 30 minutes of II as well when I saw it first, but when Dooku's character ended up sucking, it took any relevance of that scene out.

Yoda vs. Sidious>>>Darth Maul vs Obi Wan/Qui Gon>>>>Anakin vs. Obi-Wan (in both III and IV)>>>>>>>the other lightsaber duels>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>every other scene in those entire 6 movies.

I actually enjoyed the Darth Maul scene more, but the sheer awesomeness of Yoda taking on the emperor trumps all

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Aside from the Ewoks - which I agree were awful - what was so bad abou Jedi? Jabba's palace was cool, assault on the Death Star was good, Luke/Vader/Emperor scene was epic.

Lucas messed up by having the first two prequels tell only %40 of the story then jamming the other %60 into Sith. He should have devoted about 30 minutes of the first film to Anakin's childhood, not an entire film. Add in the other corny crap like Jar Jar/goofy droids/too much CGI and you get a shallow movie. Maul was cool in TPM, but they introduce him then kill him off before you can appreciate his character. AOTC is unwatchable until the last 30-45 minutes. Sith was good but still fell short of the original trilogy. Anakin's fall to the darkside was way too sudden. Of all the movies I think it's consensus that Empire was the best, which is baffling why Lucas wouldn't take a more serious tone with the other movies. The worst thing to hear him say is "I thought it would be funny if". I don't know why he thinks of these film as comedies. I will say this, as bad as the prequels were at least they weren't Crystal Skulls, which was one of the worst movies ever made.
