QuoteNEW YORK -- Washington Wizards teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton drew guns on each other during a Christmas Eve locker room argument over a gambling debt, according to The New York Post.

Last week, the Wizards and Arenas acknowledged that Arenas had stored unloaded firearms in a container in his locker, and the NBA said it was looking into the situation.

It was during that investigation that a confrontation between Arenas and Crittenton was revealed, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.

The dispute stemmed from an unspecified disagreement, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Citing an anonymous source, the Post reported in Friday's edition, however, that the standoff was sparked when Crittenton became angry at Arenas for refusing to make good on a gambling debt.

That prompted Arenas to draw on Crittenton, who then also grabbed for a gun, league security sources told the Post.

Asked by the newspaper about the confrontation, Arenas denied pulling a gun on Crittenton.

"This is unprecedented in the history of sports," Billy Hunter, executive director of the NBA players' association, told the Post. "I've never heard of players pulling guns on each other in a locker room."

The Wizards issued a statement Dec. 24 that Arenas had stored unloaded firearms in a container in his locker at the arena and that the NBA was looking into the situation.

On Tuesday, Washington, D.C. police said they were investigating a report that weapons were found inside a locker room at the Verizon Center.

Now, the federal government is also involved. Ben Friedman, a spokesman for the US Attorney's Office in DC, told the Post "we're working with the Metropolitan Police Department on the investigation."

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

going to be a nice battle here for the rest of the season for rookie of the year between Tyreke Evans and Jennings. They are pretty much dead-locked in numbers, but Evans seems to play with a little more consistency

I was unsure about Jennings coming into this season, but dude has definitely impressed me with his control and penetration in the lane...especially for a rookie. having the opportunity to watch both these heads play during the week on tv has been a good time...get involved.

Happy Birthday, Agent Zero.

Suspended indefinitely without pay by Stern.

that dude is out there. its funny that it takes getting docked $147,000+ per game to realize youre sorry for bringing guns to the arena, then mocking the situation pre-game

now it looks like the teammates that were laughing with him in the pre-game huddle might be fined $25,000 each

i didn't even realize this was still an active case.  jayson williams gets 18mo to 5 yrs in prison for shooting his limo driver.

DH

Not to mention the additional time he's gonna get for plowing his G-Class into a tree on the FDR Drive last month.

If I was in that dumb death pool, I'd put him in there for a 2010 death.
