they are not funny enough to pay for by themselves (even above the normal subscription rate, where you ad that premium channel).

they aren't on premium anymore, you can get them for the normal rate.

i will say this, i never laughed so hard as i did when they did the Homeless Shopping Spree a few years ago before they were canned.

they are doing that again in a couple weeks, should be great.

I know that getting around the sensors was one of the things that made O&A really funny on regular radio.  But they don't need to do that now, and it's not like they curse just to curse.  They just talk like most guys sitting around would, it a curse comes up, they don't have to be worried about it.

One of the great advantages of being on satellite is the freedom.  They were the only ones who were able to broadcast the uncensored Pat O'Brien phone messages.  If you tried to play those on regular radio it would be awful with all the bleeps.

The bottom line for me is, I loved the show on WYSP, but IMO, the satellite show is better.  No 18 minute commercial breaks, no dumping out of great stuff that may cross the FCC lines.  I'm more than happy to pay 12.99 a month just to listen to them, but with all the other stuff XM offers, it's a great deal.

When I had DirectTV they had XM radio as part of the package, I gave O & A a try but they were awful.

what made you think they were awful?

i will say this, to give them a fair chance, you need to listen for a week.  they have so many call-backs and past references that listening for one day doesn't make much sense.

I listened to them for 1 week, thought they sucked but decided to give them another try. So I listened to them for another week and came the same conclusion. Thought they were really just...blah.

hey, you gave them a fair shot and didn't like them, they're not for everybody.  but at least you gave them 2 weeks and then made formed your opinion, that is better than somebody listening for 5 minutes and saying the same thing you did..

I was trying to latch onto them because overall I liked XM radio more than I liked Sirius. I might have become a fan if they played them in Cali and had more of a fan following out there. I've been listening to Stern for 16 years (my Step Dad pulled me from school to go to the Zoo Keepers funeral) and he still does it for me. Overall though, Satellite radio is worth it, the talk shows, sports talk shows, and commercial free music makes it worth the $13 per month.  :yay

pretty boring on satellite radio same shtein over and over again, and i imagine stern will be. i always thought O&A were funnier when they were trying to get around the censors.

Excellent point, and my main concern about the move to "eh--ehhh--eh".  Part of Sterns humor has been the ways he would "get around" the FCC.

Jackie the Joke man was on Stern this morning and it was good radio. getting around the sensors was just part of what made the show so good. All the tension amongst the staff and towards the boss made for good listening. The crew busting on fafa and whomever deserved it was what made things so funny. The new crew is OK, but it doesn't have that same dynamic. I'm sure Stern will try everything he can to get that back. Even if he has to instigate the FCC to come after him on Sirius.

Jackie was great this morning.  :yay I know Howard likes having Artie on the show but Jackie (and his stupid laugh) took the show to whole new level. I wish he'd bring him to eh ehh eh with him.

It sounded like Howard threw that bone out there this morning, but Jackie was not interested.

I thought so too, maybe Jackie will think it over and give him a call. Sounded like he doesn't have much else going on in his life. Was good to hear he lost weight and stopped hitting the bottle once he quit the show. At 57 he's getting up there in age.

Cabbie also called in from jail. He's due to be released June '06.

Still some bitter feelings between him Fred and Robin, but that is what made great radio. When the caller asked if he was going to go to eh eh eh there was a moment where no one wanted to answer the question. Jackie piped in and removed himself from the equation. I guess he just can't get up in the morning.... dumbass. There's no reason why they couldn't keep Artie and add Jackie to the equation even if it's part time. That is if they can deal with him...

I could have sworn I heard Howard say "sure" to that question...I could be wrong, but I thought I heard that.

They said this morning that Benji took Jackies job but I always assumed it was Artie. Jackie constantly ripping on Fa Fa never gets old  :-D The show was so much better with him antagonizing everyone, but once he and John left that part of the show went to the wayside. I loved the classic bit with him reading from Robin's book this morning  :yay

Artie Lange is unfunny.  Getting Jackie back would be an improvement for Stern's show.
