just curious as to how it stacks up i looked and i would say that monday was no worse than his 6th best game ever out of 53 played

its also good to know that 63 million bucks bought them an average cb

spin it how you want maxie pad was by far the worst player on the field...julio is going to get his but maxie pad was gettin worked by fossil roddy white as well...it also wasnt just that his receivers went off it was by how much they were open...maxie was not even competitive on most plays and out of the picture...it wasnt like jj was outleaping him for 50/50 balls all the time...also the 45 yarder led directly to the gw fg

That's been known since he was signed, to anyone paying attention. Him being promoted as some kind of a shutdown corner was ridiculous. The best anyone could reasonably hope for is that he had the potential to that level with coaching and experience.

Anyway, someone posted all the PFF grades and lo and behold, they had Maxwell graded worse than Alonso. -3.7 for Maxwell. And they had Barbre graded worse than either of them.

Hopefully he fares better when the opposing coach wasn't his coordinator for the last two years, or we're back to where the team was the end of last year.

QuoteOFFENSE

Best

Lane Johnson +2.8
Darren Sproles +2.2
Andrew Gardner +2.1

Analysis:

Not a lot of good grades to be found on offense.

Johnson and Gardner graded out well in pass protection and OK as run blockers.

Sproles obviously had a great game. He finished with 126 total yards from scrimmage (50 rushing, 76 receiving) on 12 total touches (five carries, seven receptions).

Worst

Allen Barbre -3.9
Nelson Agholor -2.7
Jason Kelce -2.5
Sam Bradford -1.4

Barbre's first regular season game starting at left guard for the Eagles did not go very well for him. He really struggled as a run blocker. He also allowed two quarterback hurries and committed a holding penalty.

Agholor was very quiet in his NFL debut. He played 59 snaps but only managed one catch for five yards. He also got called for a penalty. In Agholor's defense, there was a play where he Desmond Trufant blatantly held onto his face mask before the ball came his way. No call.

Kelce's negative grade is surprising because I thought he looked pretty good. PFF graded him poorly as a blocker on screen plays. Weird.

Bradford threw 31 completions on 41 attempts for 288 yards, one interception, and a 84.2 passer rating when not pressured. When he was pressured, he threw just five completions on 11 attempts for 48 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and a 50.6 passer rating. It was clear there were timing issues with Bradford and his pass catchers are times. Bradford also never really attempted many deep passes, which has always been an issue with him.

DEFENSE

Best

Bennie Logan +3.1
Malcolm Jenkins +2.9
Mychal Kendricks +2.1
Fletcher Cox +1.8
Walter Thurmond +1.5

Analysis:

Logan continues to look like a beast in the middle. Along with one quarterback hurry, he had five tackles and four run stops.

Despite dropping two interceptions, Jenkins played well. He was targeted six times but only allowed three receptions for 16 yards. Jenkins also made six tackles, including a crucial tackle for loss in the backfield on third down late in the game.

Kendricks graded out well as a run defender. He finished with nine tackles and six run stops.

Cox excelled as a pass rusher. He recorded one sack and one quarterback hurry. He would have had two sacks and a forced fumble if not for a (tacky) holding penalty wiping out his great play.

Thurmond played well in his full game in his entire career lining up at safety. He made four tackles, hit Matt Ryan once, and recorded an interception. Thurmond was targeted three times but only allowed two receptions for 17 yards.

Honorable mention: Taylor Hart graded out very well as a run defender despite playing a limited amount of snaps.

Worst

Byron Maxwell -3.7
Kiko Alonso -3.6
Connor Barwin -2.5
DeMeco Ryans -2.0
Cedric Thornton -1.1

Analysis:

Maxwell was terrible. Maxwell looked like the real deal in training camp and preseason, but he just didn't show up during last night's game. He was beaten with ease on a regular basis. On the 11 times he was targeted, Maxwell allowed 10 receptions for a whopping 179 yards and one touchdown. To his credit, he did have one pass defensed. For the most part, however, he was toast. Not a good sign considering how much money the Eagles spent on him to be a solution in their secondary.

Alonso graded out really poorly as a run defender. He missed one tackle.

Barwin missed a tackle in run defense and failed to generate pressure. In 31 pass rush snaps, Barwin didn't record a single sack, hit, or hurry on the quarterback.

Ryans whiffed badly on a tackle in run defense and struggled in coverage.

Thornton was marked down for his lack of a pass rush.

Don Ho

QuoteAgholor was very quiet in his NFL debut. He played 59 snaps

59?  Really?

so i rewatched the game thru the coaches film last night and while it was not pretty the one unit i would say has gotten way too much criticism this week is the defensive line....ice was getting the ball out of his hands so damn fast...lots of 3 and 5 step immediately release the ball drops...add in mass protect and excellent blocking by the atlanta backs and it was tough to get there...brandon graham was awful but everyone else got their fair share of penetration but just didnt have time to get to the qb....of course it didnt help that maxie pad couldnt cover anyone so ice most of the time had availability to throw the ball as soon as he planted
