The patriots coveted Gocong also, and planned to make him a OLB.  The difference being they would use him the right way in a 3-4 Defense, not a 4-3.

I really do think he would be a game changing OLB in a 3-4 with his speed off the edge, especially if he played in the New England version

well that and the patriots LB corps is not their weakness so even if they did take him...they could bring him along like the project he is. they would not have promoted him to a starter if he was not ready. the eagles did not promote him cause he is that good...its just the system and philosophy. hell we stuck with pinkston or thrash for a # of yrs!

The Pats could get away with GoCong at LB because 1) they have good LBs to begin with and 2) they could use him as a pass rusher from the upright position, he's more suited for success in their scheme than he would be in the Eagles.

I'd like to see 1 of 2 things happen by the opener:
1. Bradley starts in place of GoCong
2. Spikes goes to the MIKE and Gaither slides back over to the WIL where he was decent last season. At least with Spikes in the middle he can help cover up the mistakes of the outside guys.

Although everyone hates him here, since Gocong seems bad in space wouldn't it make sense to put him at MLB?

I don't think this will happen by the opener, but I think it could happen at some point during the season.

Gocong would be a pretty good situational pass rusher.  No one is disputing that.  What's ridiculous is the Eagles' insistence on trying to force him into a position that he doesn't have the capability of excelling at.

It's another in a long line of instances of arrogant presumption on their part.
