Now was not the time to exercise the option.  Johnson has had trouble scheming in big/playoff games, and it would seem offenses across the league have figured out all his blitz packages.  This year will be very telling.

Wingspan

i still put the bulk of the superbowl loss on johnson's defense not stopping the pats on 3 of 4 drives in the 3rd and 4th quarter, after the eagles tied it.

i've been weary of it since. and last season (while the defense largely remained healthy) was dominated frequently.

i am not sure i agree with extending johnsons contract. (or as IGY puts it "not down with buttering the johnson's johnson")

QuoteEagles | Team plans to rotate defensive linemen often; Kearse included
Mon, 26 Jun 2006 05:35:35 -0700

Dave Spadaro, of PhiladelphiaEagles.com, reports the Philadelphia Eagles plan to rotate their defensive linemen a lot in 2006, which will give the players plenty of rest. There is depth all around and the Eagles want to take advantage of that versatility and stretch the limits of defensive coordinator Jim Johnson's genius. By rotating DE Jevon Kearse, the Eagles hope to keep him quick off the edge and give him that slight bit of advantage that can mean the difference between a sack and a quarterback's completed pass. Also the Eagles are going to move Kearse here, there and maybe everywhere. He can come up the middle as a Joker in the scheme and he can line up on the right side from time to time. This is something that most good ends do, move from side to side and even line up at tackle. Kearse was in phenomenal shape in the spring and he looked as quick and frisky as ever in those drills. The expectations are high for Kearse and for this Eagles defense. Kearse, in year three as an Eagle, looks to get back to the top of the heap in the nation's eyes. The hope is he will bring the team with him for that reemergence.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Well looky here, Spads discovering the art of surreptitiously criticizing the Birds by putting the criticism in question form. Looks like he's become acquainted with the finer points of being a PR man. Hopefully he's also learned Lesson 2, "no dreamweaving."

Sounds like every article written about Kearse since his signing.
